the stock tires on the enthusiasts are 225/50/17 and 235/50/17 on 7.5 and 8.0 wheels- why can't i find any performance tires that are the above size? if you know where to find some please let me know

Same problem here. I have been checking out Tire Rack but it appears that unless you go back to the REO40's or the super expensive Michelin's, you and I will need to do some plus sizing.

I am currentlt looking in some Kumho's 712's or MX's. It appears the 245/45/17 and 255/45/17 is the closest match via diameter which is important for the TCS system. My concern is bulge on the sides.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated from the tire experts?

i wouldn t put 255s on an 8" wheel man, but that's just my thoughts

I checked on this months ago and the plus sizes were 245/50 and 255/50s. I was adamant that I was putting the stock size back on after the 040s, but several owners put on Kumhos, etc. in the 245/255/50s and were pleased. Not much bulge, if any. A lot cheaper than the Michelins and good performers too.

I got my Tires through Tire rack about 3 mounths ago and I got the Bridgestone Tires not the RE040 but the next quality tire up.
did u try maybe Discount Tire.com?

I've run 235/45/17 fronts and 275/40/17 rears all season thru 5 different HPDEs. There is no ugly buldge on the sides and the tires don't pop off the rims or roll over. I run 37 psi cold and after the session the pressures are up to 40 and 42. I don't get any additional understeer with the larger sizes on the rears. I am using Costco sways, JIC A2s, vented front brakes with Panther XP front pads and Pather + rear pads.
Oversize tires on 17" rims is ok just keep the height difference in line.

You are running 275/40/17's on the stock wheels. Do they rub at all, and how are they working for you? Did you notice any speedo changes? Very interesting.

Were those Kumhos because I could not find 50's with a close diameter. The 45's were within .2" in diameter and that was my concern for TCS especially in the winter in Texas and OK.

PS- I did check Discount Tire (Tire.com) and will likely buy from them since I priced it out a few months ago and it was actually cheaper once you priced in shipping and installation. I will go to Discount Tire in Plano. The problem with that site is I had a hard time getting wheel dimensions, etc.

Supposedly Nissan recommends you stay within .5 to .75 inch of the stock wheel diameter. This will allow the computer to properly modulate ABS and TC/VDC. You must also stagger sizes front to rear. Since I will only run R compound race rubber on the street, I decided to go with 245/45-17 front and 275/40-17 rear on an 8.5 and 9.5 inch wheel, respectively. Otherwise for those who want a street tire, try the Kumho MX, a max performance tire that will keep the stock diameter.

I think you'll be fine with that.

I'll be running 265/35-18" on my 8" wide race wheels, so you should be fine with a 255 on the 8" wide wheel.

My bad, they were 45s, not 50s, as I stated before. I haven't heard of anyone's 17s being overwhelmed by the 245/45s or the 255/45s. They posted pics and I couldn't see any bulge at all.

Go to tirerack.com and search tire sizes. They will give diameters for the tires. Your sizes were pretty far off though

Michelin tires shouldhave come standard with the Z but this has been debated to death already on the board. Nevertheless... it is possible to gradually upgrade by replacing the rears and then the fronts to avoid the $800 all at once shock. It is hard to beat the Michelin tire as it is the standard on the G35 ( and the 911).

are you talking about the michelin pilot sport all season tire?

I don't think so, they were the summer tires, max performance. The A/Ss perform better than the 040s summer tire, according to the Tire Rack's Customer Surveys. I have 17' tires, so I put on the A/Ss for year round use.

EDIT:Sorry link dont work,goto www.discounttire.com select brand year,ect.......it has enthusiast then theres like 5 or 6 brands to choose from nitto seems to be a good deal. Mitchelin being the most expensive.
