Can I safely run a 3mm front wheel spacer on a Track Model without longer studs?
I had a set of 2mm spacers that 2003z supplied me, but one got bent. I was wondering if it would be safe to go to a 3mm without longer studs? Anyone know where I can get some 3mm spacers?
Thanks

Do you have any idea what the thread engagement is on the track model?
In my business, I've heard a couple coflicting "rules of thumb" regarding the ability to use few threads, so I'll throw them out here and you can decide.
1. In Aluminum, 1.5X the diameter should be the thread engagement.
2. In Steel, 1X the diameter should be the thread engagement.
3. In any material, the first few threads will be taking 90% of the load, so as long as you have about 5 turns of engagement then you will be just as likely to break a bolt as you will be to strip threads.
I've had to design many joints that have only a few threads of engagement, but they were never as critical as a tire.
Finally, 3mm is .118" and the wheel studs are, what, 5/16-18 or something? So, with 18 threads per inch and with .118" less length you would be loosing about 2 threads. My current nuts have about 7-9 turns before bottoming out, so I'd say that you'd be on the edge with spacers.
