Default T.P.M.S.

As for the tire pressure monitoring system goes is there any way to deactivate that? Like pulling a fuse or something? What about if I went with aftermarket rims and tires? How will this effect my T.P.M.S. I ask this because I went to the nissan dealer and the mecanic said the tpms is goverment mandated and by law he couldnt give me an answer is this true? I just want to know if I can somehow turn this off.

Also when I have to eventually get a new set of tires do I have to take it to the dealer everytime I get new tires because it has this tpms? Or can I just take it anywhere?

No, you cannot deactivate it with out completely removing it.

You can take it anywhere to get new tires but just make sure that the wheels are put back on the same locations when reinstalling them.

I simply removed the individual sensors (actually, it was that I left them in my summer tire/wheel setup, but did not install the sensors in my winter tire/wheel setup).

I have a 2003 Performance model, so things might be different if your car is a different year.
