Default Idea for painting rims..

I don't have the money to get new rims right now as i am in the midst of getting a esprit body kit. I am thinking of powder coating my stock 17's bronze/gold along with my door handles and possibly the Z side badges. I actually like the stock rim design and the matching door handle 3 dot pattern. I am curious if anyone has attempted this and what your thoughts may be. This would be a DIY project. Its a 04 base PPW Z btw.

Bash away!

By the time you pay to get these powder coated along with all your other parts, you could have saved that money bought a set of rims, and then sold your stock ones and be just about even.

True... what if i just primered and painted to rims with a gold/bronze rattle can paint, I really need a project right now thats low cost I am out of work and have a small chunk of extra cash to work with.. thus the body kit.

Oh yea i was looking at my Z and think having the door handles and rims matching bronze/gold would be badazz on PPW, any thoughts on this

body kit before the wheels ftl.

the esprit kit really needs 19's to pull it off correctly. now you're just gonna look like a ricer who spent too much money on a kit to buy wheels.

I knew this was coming... I am on unemployment. I live with my parents for the time being and have nothing to do but work on my car and help my father with his projects. I was layed off and got a nice settlement and payed off all my bills and have some left over. I am selling my old project cars a 79 280zx and a stripped 73 240z to get some more cash together to buy some exterior mods for the 350.

Nexx what about 18's ? i hate replacing 19" rubber.

Plus for the next 7 months im drawing a nice lump some not including under the table work i am doing... last week i made $1k installing a home theater and multi-room audio setup for a guy took me 3 days. All this plus im rent free right now.

I do plan to get rims eventually but this is a gradual thing... i don't care if i "look like a ricer" to anyone its about my own personal satisfaction with the way my car looks as i drive it. But i want to be happy with it and am just curious how bronze factory rims would look on a PPW i have seen 17" bronze axis rims that are almost the same still as OEM and they look ok.

for some reason i cant imagine bronze on PPW, i wouldn't do it though. Bodykit with stock 17's powdercoated bronze on a PPW. Thats gonna look awful

Gag83 PPW with bronze/gold rims are one of the best combos for wheel colors i have seen. Its pretty common. My front bumper is in dire need of replacement i have about 100 rock chips all over it and a nice dent on the bottom lip. This is why i would rather get a body kit first.. maybe if i can find some cheap rim/tire combos on the marketplace i will think about getting rims upfront.

but i found these pics i need to play with photo shop...

do what you want to do. it seems like you already have your mind made up about painting your stock rims with your body kit. imo stock body z with some sick wheels (and possibly a nice drop) > body kit with stock wheels and huge fender gaps. im not trying to knock your taste. i think its just going to look tacky.

Agreed gold looks better... but it looks like I may go ahead and get some 19's working out a deal on some racing harts right now. I really need a new bumper due to paint chips what would be better with stock sides for the time being? amuse or nismo v2??? after seeing the esprit from the side i have lost interest in it.

thanks... i saw a diy on the forums. Im really looking for opinions though. And like I said I think i am going with some 19"s and replacing the stocks painting them would be hit and miss.

Has anyone used the amuse or nismo v2 front with stock sides? I am on a limited budget.
