sorry to bring it back from the dead but as a former nitto invo owner and a current vredestein user, i must say great write up just what i needed to make me want to spend the extra money for nittos again, ive been very happy with the vredestein so far for price and performace, but when I had invo's they had unreal grip wet or dry, any updates on wet handling on the nt05s or what kinda mileage wear anyones gotten? my car eats rear tires, probably the fact that im on the dragon once a month, but the invos on the dragon were untouchable so im sure the nt05s would be worth the extra money at least once to have some fun haha any updates appreciated guys

Well i ran my NT05's a couple weeks ago on SMMR. I played with tire pressure for the first half of the day before i found out what was needed, i ended up with 34 front and 33 rear (HOT). Doubledown motorsports ran theres down to 32 hot, and ended up raising ther pressures up to that mine are. I was seeing tire temps of 180 front and 160 rear and they never got greasy. They have a smooth predictable slide, recovery from a slide is simple, and after a slide the tires still arn't greasy.

The only thing i didn't like about them is the front end feel, its vague, but it could have to do with my chassis setup.

Wet , didn't try amd unless it rains on the way to the track, never will.

Treadwear update:
My street pump gas tune is ~530whp/520wtq. These have been on my car since early March and the rears are just about gone. The fronts have a few thousand miles left on them. I figure I have somewhere around 6k miles on them including a 1k road trip to LA last month. I have a track day this Sunday that should finish off the rears.

If you run them track only (where you run well past wear bars) you should get 6 to 10 events depending on your track surface.

You guys should be given some sort of discount/extra sets for marketing their products LOL.

Based on my wear patterns and power, I would figure ~5-6 track days for my rears and ~9-10 for the fronts. That's figuring 70-80 minutes of track time and my car which is well over 500whp on pump gas.

I've just started saving up for a bunch of upgrades that will make my car stick like superglue on corners. NT05 is added on my list.

@what PSI do you guys run with these babies during track days?

I run around 30psi in them.

Forgot to post mine up...

265, 295/35-18 (front to rear)





I still have to lower the thing and finish up my boost project but I've gotten very preoccupied with building my home. Can't wait to get back to modding the Z. I'm hopping to do some decent fender work and squeeze in some Nitto NT555R's 285, 305/35 front to rear.

Not true! Read this...




He's got a 3.4% variance, more than what the VDC will typically (3%) compensate for.

Had mine mounted but still haven't made it to the track yet.....One of the stickiest tires I've owned to date, but def not a street tire...noisy as all fawk. Good thing I can barely hear them over my exhaust....

But that's what I'm saying, the variance from stock height is what screws up the VDC, not the variance from front to rear.

I had this issue running 255/35/20s.
In the link you posted the rear tires are 285/30-20 , and with those rear tires the stagger will be off. Its not the varience from stock height that counts, its the varience from front to rear that matters.

Huh? I'm saying he's running 255/35/20s & 275/35/20s, based on those sizes, the thread says the VDC computer will react as if the tires are slipping.

That thread is correct, but you need to look at the aspect ratio's mentioned in that thread, or maybe even do the match for yourself. A 255/275 combo with the same aspect ratio on a 13 to 22 inch wheel will not set off VDC/TCS. Yes the tires in question are taller that stock, but both the front and rear tire are taller equally, the ratio stays the same.
