Default Work Meisters

I plan on purchasing my first set of Aftermarket wheels which will be the Work Meister s1 3-piece. I just wanted some opinions on what offsets are the best for both 18in and 19in... my car is not lowered yet and dont want to roll any fenders after i get the rims and lower my car probably 1in all the way around.. Sorry if this might be a repeated thread please just post the url of the original thread if so...
Thanks..

Offset is independent of wheel size (chose the same offset for either 18” or 19” wheels).

The stock offset is 30. That offset safely keeps the tire well inside the wheel well, and there’s no chance the tire will rub your fender.

22 is a safe offset that looks better than 30 offset. It won’t be exactly flush (but close), and it won’t rub the fender.

Some members here will recommend more aggressive offsets (even up to 18). If you go past a 22 offset and depending upon your tire size, you may need to roll the rear fender flange.

Works are just a great looking wheel.

Yeah i want an agressive stance just dont wanna do any rolling so i guess ill just have to go with 22mm offset for both front and back... what about tire sizes like 255/40 front and 275/40 back?

^^ The tire sizes you mention are good choices for 18" wheels. If you go with 19" wheels, you will select the same widths, but a 35 profile. These tire widths need at least wheels that are 8.5" wide front and 9.5" wide rear.

The setup will look very good while providing excellent handling. Your mileage won't suffer much with these widths.

I’ve had the same Z since 2003. I’ve run all sorts of wheels and tires. My engine is stock, so really wide tires are a waste for me.

I didn’t like 19” wheels… too heavy and the ride was awful… not to mention the tires for this size wheel are expen$ive.

I do like 17” wheels since they are light and very comfortable. But, I prefer the look of a lower profile. 18” wheels is a nice compromise for looks, handling, and comfort.

So, for right now… I’m running 18” wheels with a semi-square setup (square width but staggered height). The setup is 245/40-18”F with 245/45-18”R. I really like the handling with this setup (remember my car has a 2003 stock 285 hp engine). The handling is close to neutral. That means I can turn-in quickly with hardly any under-steer. The car is very nimble, turning very fast with this setup, since there’s no plowing/under-steer. I do have to be a little careful not to apply too much power early in the turn.

Offset and width go hand in hand. Can't talk about 1 without talking about the other.

Rear quarter panel rolling or not rolling does not merely depend upon offset - the specific tire (not merely the size printed on the sidewall - that tells you very little as tires with the same "size" can vary substantially in physical dimension), alignment settings (they vary, even on a stock car) and rideheight. The specific tire you select, not merely the size, will have alot to do with whether or not you have to roll the rear quarter panels

A truly aggressive stance and no rolling do not co-exist - you must decide on one or the other. You can get more aggressive than stock, but it will not be flush. You can get flush, but you will need quarter panel rolling in the back.

Taking the specific tire out of the equation for a second, something like this is a pretty safe bet for not having any rolling needed

18x9.5 +25 to +18
18x10.5 +30 to +25

You can also go narrower on the wheels front and rear, and therefor use lower offsets. Or you can go wider on the wheels, and use similar, or higher offsets.

The great thing about the Meister and other similar multipiece wheels is the ability to choose from a wide range of width and offset combinations

The most common size and offset for this wheel is 19x9.5"/10.5" in a +23/+24
Stick with this and you'll be fine. Tire sizes (imo) 245/275 35 series...

Now buy! preferrably used, from a member... Also, read up on care as these
wheels require quite a bit of attention. They may be a bit much if they're your
first aftermarket wheels ever. In my experience they also bend easily.

Check my flics to see this exact setup on my car.

I don't mean to jump the thread but im in a similar situation. I have found 3 sets of Volk wheels 2nd hand for a good price but I don't think the fitments are all that good. The first set is 19" Volk SF challenges 19x8.0+41 w/ 225/35/19 fronts and 19x8.5+42 w/ 245/35/19 rears for $1500 (They came off of a Lexus IS300). The second set of wheels are 19" Volk CE28s 19x8 w/ 225/35/19 front and 19x8.5 w/ 235/35/19 rear for $1700 ( Dont know the offsets and I think there off a Maxima). 3rd set is Volk LE37s and they are 18x8.5+22 w/ 245/40/18 all around for $1600 (They came off of an EVO). Would any of these wheels fit or is there no chance?( they are all 5x114.3 pattern)

Thanks for your help

Those are all not desireable fitments for a Z.

I figured that, but thought i might as well ask. Thanks for the heads up.

Im trying to search around for some 2nd hand wheels, are there any other cars besides the G35 that would have wheels I would be able to use?

Those sizes are attrocious

you want to concentrate searches for something at least 8.5 up front with an offset ranging from the teens to maybe 30 to make it workable (you can always fix the higher offset ones with spacers). Rear can be same size or staggered depending upon your desired look, etc

Its tough to find decent wheels that aren't $3000+

Here are the 3 original choices i was thinking about:

1st are Rays Lexion, 2 piece wheels, 19x9 up front w/255 35 19 Toyo T1R's (50% left) and 19x10.5 out back with 275 35 19 Toyo T1R's (Need to be replaced soon) The wheels are about 2-3 years old. For $1500

2nd are Niche F18, 19x8.5+20 front and 19x10+25 Rear. Brand new, no tires $900 (03black350z has the in 20" on his black Z)

3rd are Konig Privat Profil, 19x8.5+30 front, 19x9.5+25 Rear. Brand new, no tires $850

I have a 08 SMB with tints and smoked out lights so im going a black and blue theme. I thikin 19" wheels 5 spoke, black w. a chrome lip as you can see. Im looking to spend around $1500-$1800 for a complete wheel+tire package. Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

ZyoungBuck you should just wait and save up like 4g's and just get some volk te's or cr kais they are sick..... your not gonna be satisfied with cheap rims in the long run... yout best bet for that price range are Enkei RPF1's.. or some Rota's...

2 sets of TE's sold on ebay yesterday evening in the following fits:
19x8.5 +30 / 19x9.5" +22 for $1700 and $1800 respectively....

You'll just have to look harder. If I told you what I paid for my setup,
you'd probably cry.
