Default Volk TE-37 (Question as to checking Authenticity.)

Now I just recently ordered some volk TE-37's. My dealer keeps lagging on the delivery date. He keeps saying "tomorrow".

Now I know how rare it is to find these wheels in the exact color and offset you want. So my question is when I get them how can I tell if they're legit because I did pay 3k for these wheels. Also How can I tell if they're not just saying "tomorrow" cause they're trying to paint them? It's been almost 3 weeks of back and forth.

How about checking as to whether or not it is painted. At first he told me that color is not available so I told him to cancel my order.

2 Hours later he calls me and said they just came in stock and that they are now available for sale. I was starting to find the situation a little sketchy.

Keep in mind this is a reputable business that's been running for a quite awhile.

Hmm ok...
First I haven't seen any replica te37 in 19"
Rota grid is 18" and they look really different.

second I haven't seen any replica rim come in RAYS box.

I might be wrong tho...

I ordered 18" 9.5/10.5 +12/+15

That is a rare size to find because most dealers don't carry 18" 10.5

The fact he called back 2 hours later and simply said "hey we got them now" was somewhat strange. I'm not so worried about the entire wheel being fake. I'm much much more worried about them trying to paint the rims to match the color I asked for.

1. weight
2. placement of rays stickers (should have mfg date, size, offset, etc)
3. ask to see the shipping box & invoice from dealer
4. call mackin to see if your dealer is legit reseller.

it would say forged monoblock on the actual outside of each rim kind of by the lip where the spokes are. It's not a sticker either, its actually engraved or whatever on the rim. (not engraved, but i cant think of the word for it.)

IIRC, only the 19" TE37s have the forged monoblock "embossed" on them. I could have sworn that the 18 didn't have any.

For reference:

Merc Silver in 19" from Jsyang's FS thread. Note the "embossed" words (forged monoblock etc.)

18" TE37s from other FS threads I looked up. Notice how at the same spot on the rims it doesn't have the raised words like the 19"

In other words, just go with what Cheston said. Good luck!

BTW, what color did you order? If it was a very unique color, I believe a handful of people would have had to order that color as well for Volk to actually produce them.

Those are real TE37s. The first picture is of 19" and the last three are 18". The 19" has the embossed words (made in japan, forged, monoblock etc)...where as the 18" does not.

If the OP is getting a set of 18s like he stated, he can't compare them to the 19" wheels like ekidd suggested because the 18" TEs don't have the same little attention-to-detail engravings on them. However, despite the fact that the 18" don't have the little engravings, they do still have two of them that are exclusive to the TEs and not the Rota grids...they're right by the valve stems. I don't think the Grids have those there.

Good luck to OP, you should be able to tell fairly quickly. Or just post detailed pics here after you get them, I'm sure the community will be able to figure it out.

It's been done. By a member on this board, running Rota TorqueDPTSVNLMNOPQRST whatever the hells, ie knockoffs...then he was caught and embarrassed. Then he claimed it was a joke.

Then he also claimed he did surgery...before even being in medical school. Hilarity ensued.
