Would anyone recommend staying with Potenza's or getting a different type of tire for the same price or less.

its all on what you want out of the tire (better dry weather traction, wet weather traction, sidewall stability, etc.). Potenzas were poop IMHO. Search this forum and google. You find some good info. It all comes down to how you want it to ride and feel and handle in the end though.

I ditched the Potenza's after 11K miles, couldn't take the noise. When I got new wheels I went with Sumitomo HTR Z3 and very happy with purchase. Quiet and good grip. Also ranked #1 in tire test at TIRE RACK, but didn't know that till after I bought them.

Might want to look at the vredstein sessanta (sp?)

Alot of people have positive results from these tires and are fairly cheap.

My suggestion is to check out tirerack reviews. Stock potenzas are horrible summer tires. I currently use the potenza RE960AS PP tires. I also live in NJ, and I have to drive in rain and light snow. These tires have a 40,000 mile warranty as well.

I just bought a set of Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs (in OEM 18 sizes). They are awesome -- granted, I track my car. I did not want to go R compound b/c I did not want to buy a new set of wheels. Several passengers at my last track day commented on just how close the Direzza's felt to a straight R compound. I have driven the car in the rain as well and I must say that the Direzzas are at least equal to or better than the OEM Bridgestones. Just my .02.

i'm running OEM Bridgestones atm, and have about 17k miles on them.. they're not worn, but they suck!! i would rather have some street radials or whatever is better for street grip.

I've had Potenza RE050A PP and Pilot Sport PS2. Both perform a lot better than OEM Potenza RE040 in dry and wet.

i have stock RE040's and my rears are bald... I just ordered some Goodyear tires... for the price of the RE040's you can get a better tire (quieter, lighter, higher treadwear)

Anyone saying the RE050A's such in terms of dry performance probably hasn't tried out many other tires. They are great for grip, just a little noisy.

If you're looking for an upgrade to the RE050A's, I would recommend the RE050A Pole Positions or PS2's.
