Do you still have your stock rims and tires? If so, put them back on and keep trying to contact the bozo who sold you those. Any idiot would know what I told you. The math doesn't lie. He sold you a setup with a SMALLER rear diameter! That's insane. Anyone who knows anything about what he's doing wouldn't pull that on you. I'd demand they give you two new tires.

Even 275/35/19s will come to 675.1 mm overall. That's still a 21 mm difference from the front (654.1). That 21 mm difference might still be a problem for the TCS but I'm not an expert on the variance tolerance. Anyone know the tolerance? If he put on 275/35/19s and kept the 245/35/19s up front, the difference is about 3.2%. I'd bet that would be fine, but the difference between the stock 225/50/17s and 235/50/17s is only about 1.5%.

You'd still have shorter gearing than stock with 275/35/19s, but they'd be way closer to where they should be compared with what they sold you.

I guess the bottom line is to do your homework first...

Stock 18" Bridgestone RE040's are:

Front 225/45x19 25.9in
Rear 245/45x19 26.6in

19" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S are:

Front 245/35x19 25.8in
Rear 275/35x19 26.6in

Overall the rears are exactly the same, and the front 19's are 1/10 of an inch shorter. I don't think that would cause problems would it?

Don't forget that the same size tire from varying manufacturers will have slightly different overall diameters, sometimes varying by as much as 1/2inch or so.

The consensus seems to be that the correct 19 inch size is as I have listed. Any disagreements? If so please post sizes.

Those sizes are comparable to the stock 18s:

225/45/18 = 659.7 mm
245/45/18 = 677.7 mm

(2.7% difference from front to rear.)

245/35/19 = 654.1 mm
275/35/19 = 675.1 mm

(3.2% difference from the front 19s to the rear might be too much but I don't know about the tolerance. Considering the front's difference, its probably within spec.)

The difference is minimal going from the stock 18s to the 19s you listed. I doubt there's a better match.

durobred has stock 17s for his Enthusiast, which are slightly larger in overall diameter, so his variance would still be more with even the 19s you listed.

Oh my! Rear tire shorter than the front. Thats havok for your VDC, etc. I cant believe that combo was recommended to you. Get a 275 or 285-35-19 rear immediately.

Nissan recomends that you don't exceed 0.5 to 0.75 inch difference from stock diameter. This is from the horse's mouth folks!

The difference (front/rear) on the stock 18s is = 0.709" (or 18 mm)

The difference (front/rear) on the stock 17s is = 0.433" (or 11 mm)

The diameters I have established above are:

225/45/18 = 659.7 mm = 25.97"
245/45/18 = 677.7 mm = 26.68"

durabred's configuration:

245/35/19 = 654.1 mm = 25.75", which is 0.11" less than the stock front 17" rim/tire

275/30/19 = 647.6 mm = 25.5", which is 0.5" less than the stock rear 17" rim/tire

Having the smaller diameter in back is really messing things up, I'm sure.

TheLex is asking:

245/35/19 = 654.1 mm = 25.75", which is only 0.22" less than the stock front 18" rim/tire

275/35/19 = 675.1 mm = 26.58", which is only 0.1" less than the stock rear 18" rim/tire

Based on what Blue Liquid states, TheLex's sizes should be A-OK.

My 17's have a 50 profile. Not 55.... Did this change sometime or something?

I just verified. They ARE 50 series. My bad. I have the 18s and I, for some reason, had 55 stuck in my head. I'll re-calc my figures...

(just did a quick fix... check my math)

I can't get a hold of Him...from what I can make out on his answering machine his shop is closed till Oct. 6 (Import Expression is this Sat. the 4th at the Javits Center, I guess i won't make it)...I'm SO FKIN PISSED!!! I finally got my rims now I have to take them off...and hope that Dave comes through like a man and replaces my tires....by the time all this is over it's gonna be about time to take the rims off for the season, and by next season Volk might have new rims out, then I'm gonna be pissed that I bought the GT-7's so early and didn't even get to show them off!!!

He's running the wrong sized wheel/tire combo and the VDC/TCS system never FULLY turns off, even when you press the button off. The computer will constantly be at odds with the size problem and it may even affect the ABS system (which could easily be construed as a safety problem, if true).

He's also going to have funky handling with this setup.

I'm not claiming to be an expert, but it sure seems prudent and wise to put the OEMs back on...

I don't know that it will effct handling all that much, every car in Japan 275/30/19's on the rear (at least a dozen + that I have seen). I am not sure how they get around the VDC issue though.

My guess is 350 Mods had Nitto 555's which do not come in a 35 profile tire, so they went with the 30. I would leave them on and suffer for a week or two, bit then you probably would not be able to return the tires.

1. Safety Issue
2. I don't want to find out that my tires won't be replaced because I drove on them for a few days

As stated the tire sizes given are VOLK reccomended not the only way to do it.

Duro wanted 555's and so we felt no need to make offers. VOLK has claimed that there have been many (more than 10 plus orders made nationally with these sizes. Anyone can call Steve or Ryan and they will repeat this info. I would like DURO to get them professionally installed and monitored before anything else happens because I cant figure out how his is the only one doing this.

These tires have been driven on and the wheels mounted so we are walking eggshells to get this going.

I want to know how we have done this size in the past without problems and no this car does it.

Also that bolt removed is a part of the sensory of the car we are told. It must be removed in this situation but Nissan may have a suggestion as to how it can remain (shaved down?) and make this light go off. I suggest all avenues be exhausted before you have to send these things across the country.

Steve at Volk has done this many times on this size without a problem

If you are talking about the bolt on the front rotors, they are not tied in any way to the TCS. I removed my bolt when I installed my wheels and I have not had any problems. The bolt on the rotors is only there to prevent the stock rear wheels from being mounted in front.

It may be possible the other Zs with this setup are base models. The base models do not have TCS so they would not have a problem with mounting lower diameter wheels in the rear. It appears clear his problem will not be rectified unless he mounts the correct tire size in the rear.

The bolt and spacer is NOT part of the car's sensor system. It holds nothing, clamps nothing, and is only there to prevent someone from putting the stock rear wheels on the front hubs. I had to remove my bolt to fit my race wheels, and have had no problems, even though I leave the bolts off when I go back to street tires and the stock wheels.

While you may want the customer to examine all possibilities before you do anything about it, I think many of us on this site (who know exactly what the problem is) would look much better on your company if you were to quickly replace the rear tires with one of the suggested sizes above so your customer would be satisfied. You could then do all the research in parallel without affecting the customer. To me (as a potential customer), it sounds like excuses are being thought up instead of figuring out how to get the customer the correctly sized tires.

IMO, it would go a very long way towards erasing the negative impression that has already been generated when you recommended (or at least failed to discourage) the use of these tires in the first place. An expert should be able to provide enough assistance to prevent their product from inhibiting the performance of the vehicle.

This is just my opinion of course, but if I were to be dealing with your company, I'd definitely want to know that I would be treated well if things were to go awry. I hope you all can reach a satisfactory solution.

Also, I don't mean to sound pissed or anything, but I'm just giving a "customers perspective" of this situation. Good luck!
