Question 17" Wheel options?

I'm sick and ****ing tired of spending money on 18" tires. I will now be putting on my 5th set of tires here shortly because I go through them in ~5K miles. I've got some alignment issues I'm having trouble dialing out and I KILL tires. I want to drastically reduce the $1K I spend on tires everytime so I can go to more track events and I need to find some decent looking, lightweight 17s for $400 each or less.

What's out there besides the Enkei offerings?

Good question. I’ve been looking at 17” wheels for weeks now. Depending on how much you want to spend, how wide of wheels, different width wheels on the front and rear makes all the difference. Discount Tire Direct has quite a allot of choices if you want 17”x7. I personally wanted to go with at lease 17”x8, that alone cuts your choices down to just a few no matter where you look for wheels. So far I’ve narrowed it down to 5Zigen Typhoons, they make a 17”x8 and 17”x9 that will fit the Z front and rear. That’s A variety of one so far and they are the only 17”x9 I’ve found made by anybody that will fit the Z. Other than big buck custom wheels, anyone know of some other choices?

Try these Droideka:

I know TC Kline used them on his SCCA T2 350Z Track.

TC ran 18" wheels but the Yellow Z run by Hal Brown had the SSR's in 17".

I am waiting for Tirerack to get their first shipment of SSR Comp H in 17 inch size. They are the same as the SSR Competitions on TC Kline's car, except that the Comp H comes in slightly wider wheel widths. They are 17x8.5 front, and 17x9.5 rear. Should be in by October, though they are around $460 each, I believe. One of the lightest wheels you can buy. Plus, they'll fit over the Stock Brembo's if you have them.
