Well , i just wanted to share my experience with everyone with my front tire which are BFGoodrich KDW NT (300treadwear)

They have 7500 kms on the street and 765kms on the track

my Z has -1.2camber Left -1.3 camber right
.............. 1/16 toe out ... 1/16 toe out

I only inspected my tire before my last track day in which i did 225kms and they were starting to show quite torn up like on the picture

they were fine on the track as a street tire

Don't think those tires are up to the task. You killed them!

 

They look like they get a little greasy on you after 1:20, but all in all seem to do pretty good on the track. Hittin the right handers much hard than the left apparently, since your right side is roasted.

Just curious why only -1.2/-1.3 camber for the track?

 

I cant adjust my front camber since I still didn't spend $$ for the front upper arm yet ,,, but they are next in my list , I'm sure having run more neg camber in the front , the side of the tire wouldn't have been like that or less beaten

anyway my backup tire are on their way for my last 2 track day ,,, next year are probably going to be R-comp ! I'm confident enough after 1315 kms on the track with the Z

 

Full tread street tire are going to chunk like that. Your audio is your witness...lol Lots of early turn ins on those apex's.

 

yeah there was a few early turn in , i had a guy in my back and trying to get away from him but i wouldn't say a lot .

 

If you don't live to far away from the track just drive with R-compounds on. Something like Nitto 01s full tread.

I live about 22 miles and I drive to the track on them. I get about 10-12 track days which is all I track anyway a year, but that is more due to our local track being so rough.

A lot of that has to do with your driving style which btw was not good at all. Remember you are faster when you are smooth. You were just the opposite of smooth on that track. Crossing your hands on the steering wheel when you should always keep them in the 9-3 positions and just turn and don't let go of those areas. Your APEX was off many times. Learn to be smoother, and you will become faster and your tires will like you better.

Street tires do chunk like that if you get them overheated which you did by pushing too hard. I had used mine once already and they didn't look anything like that but I also keep them from screaming and made sure I was smoother going around the track.

 

+1, work with an instructer for a bit , it will help.

 

Thx for your opinion but you seem a bit harsh on it ! I agree that some corners were not the best but I wasn't that bad either .

For a lot of videos from many experimented driver they do hold the steering at the 9-3 and in turn they are like me at 12-6 then take the next turn on the other side or whatever ... I haven't really see any good driver getting back their hand at 9-3 during a medium corner when they can keep them at 12-6

to finish I agree I wasn't as smooth as I would like to be , but its another story with beaten tire like I had before starting the track day (understeer/oversteer)

 

That is what im going to do probably the next time at that track (july 18)
