How Many Just Gave Up and Bought New Tires?
The tire issue seems to be the most significant complaint about the Z. I first noticed the tire feathering at around 4,000 miles and finally got the dealership to replace the 2 front tires and adjust the alignment.
The problem resurfaced right before I had the 11,250 mile service. They determined it needed an adjustment to the suspension and alignment. But rather than replace the loud tires they just swapped them around.
Now at 13,700, they are louder than ever. And of course if I take it in they are going to tell me there's nothing they can do.
My question to the members is...how many just gave up and purchased new tires? and did it help?

Sorry to hear your feathering problems. My tires were not feathering but I didn't like the stock tires.... so I bought SO3's. They are great! So if you are considering new tires, I definately recommend SO3's.
they are the line up from the stock RE-040. still bridgestones.
I want someone to tell me or show me a quality image of "feathering" I dont have a clue if I have it or not. I hope not, but Id rather know now and have it fixed than later when the tires are garbage.

I'm thinking about upgrading my tires. The stock RE040s are complete crap and Nissan should be smacked in the face for putting them on the Z. I'm thinking about replacing them out once I hit 15000 miles with some Nittos, and I'll probably pick up an extra Track rim so I can get some drag radials (I have 5 track rims now).
You should contact NNA (1-800-nissan-1) and ask them to authorize your dealer to replace your tires with Michilens. It worked for me. They are only changing the fronts, but I'm getting pilot sports basicly for half price since I only had to buy the rears. My dealership even matched tireracks price(sorry luke). So its a pretty good deal. Its only a phone calls worth of effort, and the worst they can say is no.
