Do I need all season tires if I never get snow or ice?
I'm a few hundred miles north of you and I run BFG KDW2's year round. They are remarkably forgiving in the winter. I wouldnt recommend anyone run them under 50F, but they will get you home in a pinch if it starts snowing. I wouldnt recommend going out with them, but they can get you home if you have a VLSD or VDC.

those are my KDW2 tracks up our rather steep hill on a sub 30F day. And I was able to back in. Again, I'm not recommending anyone try this. But for me, I would rather run tires that are predictable most of the time, rather than pushing AS tires and finding their limits (in dry/higher temps).. whereas, when out with KDW2s in the cold/slush, I know I have a very limited window to get my a$$ home and stay parked. If your job dictates you have to drive regardless of weather, then I would say buy a set of OEM 17s and put snow tires on them.. run summers and keep snow tires around for actual snow events. At least in the South.. any more north of us and thats completely different.
