Default Waxing wheels??

Does anyone use any over the counter wax on their wheels. I know wheel wax is a top choice but i also head a normal mothers or turtle wax will do just fine. IM heading to pep boys in the morning and would like to pick up some eax for my wheels. They are hypersilver with a polished lip. Also, wont the heat from that area harden the waxing turning it hazy and trapping all of the brake dust??

Just get any good quality wax for your wheels. You could use the same wax you use on the car. Wax won't haze and trap brake dust. I use Adam's Americana Wax on my car and wheels and have never had a problem with hazing.

I use Maguires cleaning wax on my wheels after every autocross event. After washing the wheels, the cleaner wax gets the cone marks off.

Why don't you use something designed for wheels? I use this and it works great. Plus they give my350z members 10% off and they are great guys. Greg has helped me out numberous times through PM. I would highly recommend them and this product.

Very good suggestion. I'm not all that **** about my cars appearance (I run over orange cones with it after all) and don't have much time so I'll probably pass on it. This product does look good and they have it on sale through the end of the month.

Why pay more for a product that will do the exact same thing as the same wax you use to wax your car??? Just use a good meguairs wax after you wash and dry them. I like the nxt generation wax they have. Works great!!

I currently Poorboy's Natty paste wax (white) and they're awesome.
Didn't know they offer a wheel sealant
Anywho - I thought about waxing my Volks but was scared I would damage it so I didn't.
Thanks for the link crg

This jar of wheel sealant is $12. If that is more than the wax you use on your car then products like this aren't for you anyway. If you used good wax (not Meguiars or any other kind you buy at Wal-Mart) then you would understand the need for this wheel sealant. It makes much more sense to spend $12 on wheel sealant than to use the same wax you use on your car when it's $60+ a jar.

No problem. I use it on my Volks (Mag Blue) and it works perfectly. I put on 3 light coats and the brake dust just wipes right off. Not only that but I swear they look glossier and richer in color after I put the sealant on there.

Wow, three days is too long to buy a superior product? Patience is a virtue.

Im not saying i wont get it but i got my wheels 2 days ago and it has done nothing but rain and my daily drivin truck is bein fixed right now so im forced to drive the z. With the deep puddles that kick up sand and debris into you wheels id rather throw a coat of wax that i can get at pep boys as opposed to wainting 3 days. My car goes into storage november first and ill have the prro boys to put on them on the complete final detail day when it goes away

I've used Wheel Wax and while I could take comfort that it was protecting the Rays anodized lips, it almost seemed to attract more dust. While it could be easily wiped away, it wouldnt just rinse off. Using the advice here to pretty much treat your lips like you would your clearcoat of the car, I started waxing them with NXT. It seems no different than Wheel Wax other than NXT lasting longer (which isnt exactly what NXT is known for). I dont know about the product mentioned above, but I dont want to really try alot of different stuff since it seems that treating it like my regular paint has served me well.

the best thing I ever did for my wheels was slapping on a set of OEM 06 brakes (on my 03). Dust isnt really a problem anymore. I dont have to clean them every 3 days and my wax stays on alot longer.

I've got the 06 Brembos with OEM pads. I'm tired of brake dust. When the pads need to be changed, I'm going to try and find something that puts out less dust.

pre-06 OEMs were just undersized, Brembos have always been a good balance. The newer OE pads on non-brembos are much less aggressive but I dont see any driveability issues from it, I suspect because of the increased pad and rotor area. But, you may not be happy with a full ceramic pad on your brembos. I suspect there's alot more info here on other threads. They wouldnt have the initial bite you've come to expect... and wouldnt last long at the track.. but if your car is a daily driver and not tracked often, then a less aggressive pad w/ much lower dust could be a good option.

You're correct - same with on paint.

Available at any Honda motorcycle shop, this stuff works wonders on nearly any surface even plastics, all painted surfaces, plastic headlights, wheels, etc. I use this on everything on my bike and since its a anti static formuation, it keeps dirt off it a tad longer. $6 a can, use it with a microfiber and you have yourself some supa clean wheels. I use it on my cars and bikes.
