Calling all Volk gt-7 owners....
Whats Up?
Has anyone discovered any fine scratches on the lip part of the wheels. I have no idea on how the hell this happens?? I mean there not deep scratches like a rock would make... Im puzzled..
Also is there a way to prevent this, like a polish or a protectant??
WTF This SUCKS...
PS What do you guys use to keep the lip shiny and clean...??

Funny you mention this, yes, I have a fine scratch on my lip... Not sure what caused it, maybe some rock hitting it while driving (seems like a far shot)... I'd be interested on removing it as well...

very small particles in the air making contact with something rotating at a high rate of speed will cause marking.
anything... even a leaf coming in contact with something spinning fast will scratch the material especially if is any type of clear coating etc...
remember the videos showing hurricanes? a leaf wont break a window... but a leaf travleing at 100MPH plus in a hurricane can cause alot of dammage...

I think you'll have better luck if you ask this question in the Detailing Forum.
I don't know for sure if the GT-7 polished lip is clear-coated, and I don't recommend specific polishing products without knowing EXACTLY what the finish is, but it should be a simple matter to polish these little scratches out and make the wheels look perfect again. In the future, if you can't totally prevent the scratches, you will be able to minimize them.

before you go changing the sidewall height of your tires keep in mind that this will make a number of changes to your car. Least of which is your speedometer and odometer will be off and if you go shorter in tire height it in effect shortens up your gearing. What effect this has on VDC or ABS i don't but I'm sure someone else does.

If you run, say, 245/35/18 instead of 245/45/18...
Total circumference will be 77.75 inches compared to 83.81 inches--6 inches difference.
When you are going 60 mph, you speedometer will read 64.67.
Revs per mile will be 840 compared to 780.
Furthermore, your car will look goofy. If you want a very low profile tire, you need a bigger wheel to fill up the wheel well, even if you don't care about the more important things.

How would i **** up my car, going from 17" to 18", and saying that i need 19's is no answer, I told u I already bought 18's. Plus 19's will only make your Z slower, so why would u want that. I already figured out the tire size, and plus my car wont look goofy with a big gap because my car is dropped 1.5 inches.
Don't pay any attention to anyone. Don't check the tire size calculator. Use the 35s with the 18s. It will look magnificent and it will be the best setup for your car. It's so obvious, I don't even know why you asked in the first place. In fact, I've decided to use your setup myself.

Keep the ODs as close to stock as you can, that means using 245/40s in front and 275/40s in back. I assume you have 8.5" and 9.5" rim widths front to back. I'm running Nismos with that setup, and I wouldn't change a thing. I have Dunlop SP9000s on them. Even lowered, they'd look funny because of the spaces around the wheel openings at the front and back of the opening. Gearing and, handling, and VDC would get messed up. If you choose to ignore everyones advice, that your business. Anyway, we care.
