Default Continental Extreme Contact DWS in the Rain (Review)

So ive had the the Extreme contacts on my car for about 7000 miles now. Before this I had the Eagle F1 all seasons. After all the days of rain and standing water I can say that I absolutely love these Contis. The car is very sure footed, stops well, cruises at conservative highway speeds with no floating around and over all has made the rain not such a pain in the ***.

I did give up some dry handling over the Eagles. Maybe its the sidewalls or harder compound but its does feel a little more unsure when driving spiritedly. Nothing ridiculous mind you. The car still handles excellently. Hopefully I can get some more longevity out of them over the Eagles.

Overall for an every day driving tire they are great. Also there are no signs of feathering which my 2003 is very good at doing. (usually can notice around 7K-10K miles With roar appearing around 15000)

The car is aligned every 6 months, is on TEIN S-techs, and has SPC endlinks and Hotchkis Sways. Other than that it is stock. (just in case car info was wanted)

I will update around 20000 miles. Maybe someone is interested. I was just really surprised how well they handled in all this rain.

I also run Eagle F1 all seasons, and am considering Continental Extreme Contact DWS for my next tire. The Continental is a inside-outside tire, but I would swap it anyway.

Just be aware david I loved the dry handling of the F1s better. But if the contis last longer and the wet traction is superior I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Im really interested to see if they feather at all

28,296 miles on the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season tires so no complaints about wear.

Still I like the trick tread pattern on Continental. Don't know if it does anything but still looks cool.

This does look like a great tire, and I need to replace my front two. In fact, I was getting quotes today, But damm I would hate to have Continentals on the front and F1's on the rear.

It would be like having a Nike shoe on my right foot and a Puma shoe on my left foot. I might be moving to Dallas soon and maybe could just get all four there.

Its been great so far.

I dont have any complaints about the Eagles either. I kept the fronts and are in my basement in case I need them. I went through the rears pretty quick (but that was my own fault and not the tires')
