need help on messed up wheels
I had my wheels taken in today and swapped for the same wheels, but dipped and powder-coated for black chrome. I don't think it looks very good; kinda reminds me of spares, and it makes the wheel look smaller than 18". I haven't paid yet, but the work order is closed. I think I have the following options:
1. Keep the wheels, at a cost of $891.88 ($750 for the wheels, $61.88 for sales tax, and $80 for labor)
2. Swap them back, but pay another $80 for labor, and be out a total of $160.
What do you guys suggest? Please e-mail me if possible: longbowe@yahoo.com

i think they look nice!!! I suggest you just keep em and maybe they'll grow on you. otherwise, i'm sure someone on the forum will be glad to trade you with stock ones cuz those look very nice IMO.

Hehe, somebody actually likes 'em? I don't actively dislike them; they're just not $900 pretty, I guess. Well, I'll see what they say first. I'll check over at the NorCal forum about the 10/19, but I think I won't be able to make it since I'd be working.

From that pic, the black chrome finish makes the spokes look thinner, and in a way it reminds me of the R34 skyline wheels because of the thin dark 6 spoke look. Might be different looking in person, but I'll probably see them soon enough in person to give you my final verdict. Might wanna put some glossy tire dressing on there to give it the "final" appearance.

how much did you pay Vic, or have you not had it done yet? your sig shows it but it seems like it was very recently that you were talking about it.

I was told that cost for these wheels was about $175 per wheel. One of the other sales guys told me that it was really more like $165 per wheel, so basically the parts department made more than the $50 off me that I thought they did.
They're growing on me a little bit; but I still don't think I'm that into them. Maybe getting dressing on the tires will help, too. In any case, I don't have time to find out today, so I'm going to have to find out on Friday whether or not they'll undo everything, and how much they'd charge me for that. If they're going to charge me a restocking fee and additional mounting, then I'm going to make a decision as to whether it's grown enough on me to keep. More comments are welcome before then!!
(And Bobby, let me know if you wanted to stop by later tonight to get a better gander.)

yeah thats what I thought... figured maybe my place was just being cheap or something and doing substandard work.
but it looks like their tearing you a new one longbowe.
there is no good answer to this, but it sorta seems like you could pay the 160 to get out of it, and then go somewhere else if you wanted, have them redone to a different color if you chose, and STILL be less than their raping you for.

oh i thought he gotta whole new set of rims for $900, that were powdercoated. but $900 is really really expensive for powdercoating. my 19s cost $350, and was with extra labor for sealing up the lip so it would remain polished.

They're kinda growing on me, and I don't want to deal with the hassle of getting them replaced and then going somewhere else and getting stock ones done and all. Besides, my stock ones inexplicably had some scuffing on one of them. I kinda suspect that it's the bad rim that it came with, just that instead of replacing it, they simply repositioned it (which would also explain why the TPMS sensor got screwed up. But I'll post more pics as I get them (it actually looks pretty decent in daylight).
