sidewall makes a huge difference in comfort, the bigger the better for that.

Im riding on 255/40/18 hankook v12 in front and 275/40/18 nitto invos in the back and they ride smooth. But thats just my opinion I have coilovers and im lowered alot so that makes it little more of a rough ride but the tires feel good. I used to run 245s up front I just recently switched to 255 and love it.

It should also be noted that wider tires, all other factors equal, will inherently do worse in the wet and have a better chance of hydroplaning.
