Default Need advise on track tires and wheels

After tracking my Z, I am interested in track wheels and tires. I am interested in performance first, looks are not nearly (if at all)as important.

If you know your stuff, what is the best and inexpensive wheels? What size do you recommend?

Tires, make recommendation on size and make/model.

Thanks, Jeff

Since I'm assuming this is the first time you've tracked your Z, I would NOT recommend jumping to R-compounds for awhile. Work on improve the driver before you start upgrading the car. I've seen too many novice and intermediate drivers jump too quickly to R-compounds and ended up in a tireawll. Remember that R-compounds aren't as forgiving in that when they break traction, they break much harder with a narrowing threshold than street tires.

But if you want an extra set of wheels for a set of track tires (not R-compounds), go for the 17x9" Enkei RP20Js as they're only ~$250 a piece.
