True true... But that just shows the shops craftsmanship I shouldn't have to tell someone how to do their job
I called the shop today and asked if they had any updates about my rim and he said "Oh yeah, your rim, it will be here in 2 to 3 weeks."
I mean seriously?! Idk if this guy is just BSing me or what not.

Sooooo... If you can recall from when I first started this thread,
I spoke of Americas Tire Co scratching my Volk TE-37 Seibon Edition rim
while putting on a new tire. The day it happen I told the manager that
it takes 90 days to order Volks and he assured me that he will have
the wheel in within 2 weeks. On top of that I even told him that the rim was around $800
and he kinda ignored me assuming I was BSing him.
So today I get a phone call from the shop and the manager says,
"Hey we got a quote for the wheel and it's going to cost way more than
you spent here in the shop." (which I spent around $620 for my two rear tires)
Then he goes on to say "Those rims are $900 a piece and it's going to take us 90 days to get them..."
So I'm thinking like WTF is this guy dumb or something?
I explained all of this to him directly the day it all happen.
Now he wants me to bring my car in so they can "inspect" the rim
and see if they can try to repair it. My car is my daily driver and I have
no stock rims to ride on if I decide to let them fix it. Any suggestions
on what I should do about all of these shenanigans

i know ur tryin to make out here bro and it sucks it happened, but the damage is very minimal and can be touched up and nobody would ever know the difference unless they were on there knees searching for something...I really say just touch it up and live with it and never go back there..I dont see them buying you a new wheel and see that as more of a hassle in the long run to you... but hey good luck

you could buy my stocks....I'm just spitballing
and I don't understand how they did this because you cant mount tires on a reverse mount wheel with the face up....the only way I can see this happening is if they missed the edge of the wheel with the clamp and it knicked your lip.....are the scratches approximately 90 degrees apart?

He told me he's gonna have to pay "out of his pocket" $100 to get it fixed and he's gonna order me a "loaner" rim to use in the mean time. He said it's gonna take 2 weeks for them to fix the wheel cause they have to send it to a shop in L.A.
Gotta call back on Wed about all of this mess. I know it's nothing big and all but like I said before, who wants scratches on their rims especially if it wasn't done by you. Maybe they will give me $100 off my tires that I purchased and fix my wheel. I think I might be happy with that

I'd be pissed off if I took a Volk or Work rim to a shop and they did that to the rim. If they repair it and it doesn't look the way it was before, tell them to buy you a new rim. I've gone to numerous shops and if they didn't feel comfortable putting on the tires, they would refuse to do it and would tell me they didn't want to damage the rim.
I did find a shop that did it and they had their guy who had 10 years of experience do it and guaranty that the rims would not be damaged.

So I talked to the guy today about it and told him that I was more
upset because they failed to tell me about the damages and I had
to bring it to their attention. I also took into consideration what
RetchedOne and tylerxfire had said. So I made a deal with the guy and he
agreed to give me half off my tires ($300). My car is DD and I don't have stocks
so I don't feel like waiting 2-3 weeks just for my wheel to get fixed.
I feel contempt about it. Lesson learned
