Default Wheels + Tires = VDC Issues

So I want to avoide issues with the VDC system on my 2005 Touring 6MT.

Stock 18's currently,
I've decided on these new wheels -

Axis Shines
Wheels diameter: 20 Inch
Wheels Width: 9.0 Front and 10.0 Rear
Bolt pattern: 5x114.3
Offsets: ET.15 Front & ET.20 Rear
Lip Size: 2.5" Front and 4.5" Rear

They fit my taste, and I'm not tracking the car or out to street race.
I do plan to lower it with the gf210 springs and camber kit.

I need to know which size will help me avoid issues with the VDC system
I read the 3% rule up top as a sticky, but it's not a math day...

The tires are -
F- 245/35/20
R- 275-30/20

Being an internet order, and not a local pickup, i'd like to confirm that this will work with my VDC, as i cant go have them replaced as easily...
TPMS Crap too... not that it matters.

Should look like this when complete (Thanks marques1)

the fronts will be taller than the rears. run a 245/30 and a 275/30 and you should be perfect. if you want to go bigger you can do a 255/30 front and 285/30 rear ( I run these sames sizes with no issues)

Fronts are taller than the rears by ~1/4" = no go.

255/30 front and 275/30 rear also work.

it's really easy to find out. use the link below and do your calculations. You want to stay as close to stock specs as possible.

My current setup is

255/35/19 -> closest to stock setup
285/35/19 -> closest to stock setup

Your ideal setup in 20" is

255/30/20
285/30/20

why do all the wheel and tire packages seem to have the fronts as 35 and the rears as 30, if it's not correct for my VDC equipped car...

It seems that, according to the calculator at http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos that i do need 30/30 to stay correct....

Am i missing something, or just over thinking this...
I really dont want to be wrong...

To get the rear as low as mine you will have to do the bump stop mod also just giving you a heads up.

I'm not sure what "wheel and tire packages" you're referring to, but if they are for the 350Z, then they are wrong. As explained in the Top 100 Questions thread, for the standard widths we recommend, i.e. 245/275, you must use the same profiles front and rear, i.e. 40/18", 35/19", 30/20" to maintain OD and stagger close to OEM values.

when reffering to the above are you saying that the tires have to be 40/18
or can they be 30/18 35/18 as long as there the same the whole way around

From the post in the Top 100 Questions thread I linked above...

Here are the most common "upsized" tire combinations. These are known to work and keep TCS/VDC happy.

245/40/18 25.7"
275/40/18 26.6" (0.9" stagger)

245/35/19 25.8"
275/35/19 26.6" (0.8" stagger)
The next step up would be
245/30/20" 25.8"
275/30/20" 26.5" (0.7" stagger)

As you can see, ODs are very close to the 18" OEM setup

225/45/18 25.9"
245/45/18 26.7" (0.8" stagger)

Even the later models with the 18/19" OEM setup are close
245/40/18 25.7"
265/35/19 26.3" (0.6" stagger)

Note how the 18" wheel used a 40 series and the 19" wheel used a 35 series tire. That in conjunction with tire widths close to our recommended upsized ones of 245/275 allow them to still be close to the OEM OD and stagger. This shows that you can pick any combination of widths and profiles and make them work, as long as the OD and stagger are respected.

No, with 18" wheels, 40 profile tires are required. With 19" you need 35 profile and 20" you can use 30 profile. In general, the profile needs to be the same front and rear.

When you start mixing them, you need to vary the widths to get the correct height. On 20" wheels, you could use a 35 up front and 30 in the rear, but the front tire has to be a lot more narrow than the "standard" 245. It would take a 215/35/20 to have an OD of 25.9".
