Question Cheep Tires for my 350z?

***Yes I know Cheap is Miss-Spelled in Title... Sorry Typo***
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No this isnt your usual thread you see a 1000 times asking what tire is best... I know rite off the bat that a guy can spend as much as he wants to on a tire.. The ammount seems endless..

but however I dont want to drop an excessive amount of money on rubbers that will be a waste.. because you can very well do so..

Here is my scenerio.. I have never bought tires for my Z yet as I had one bent LMGT4 that came with my car.. thats rite.. try findong 1 front 18" LMGT4... one single wheel.. took me over a year! but I recently got one and its being shipped to me as we speak!! thank the Z Gods..

my car has 18" lmgt4's 8.5 front 9.5 rears..
tires i will be wanting are (2) 275 - 40 - 18 , (2) 245 - 40 - 18

The reason I am not wanting to spend tons of money on tires is that my car has a complete Nismo Suspension that also came with the car when I got it.. and frankly.. I am not positive on how the car is gonna eat up the rubber..

however.. at the same time i dont want to buy some trash that is only going to last me 10,000 - 15,000 miles..

I do not race or take my car to the track.. i may spin the tires occasionally.. I do drive my Z very aggressive on the roads here tho.. (curvy Kentucky back roads)..

So in the end what I am after is a decent performing tire that is priced very cheap.. that handles well in both wet and dry weather...

tires on the car atm are pretty much bald (wires showing.. lol).. so def will be needing some asap.

let the suggestions fly!

All of us what cheap tires that perform well and last a long time. Unfortunately your criteria is subjective. Tire Rack has plenty of tires to suit your budget and needs.

tires are one of the dumbest things you can cheap out on for your car.

set a budget and go read reviews.

best bang for the buck tire (imo) is:

http://www.performanceplustire.com/p...678#prodAnchor

I also like falken fk452's as a bang/buck tire.

Whatever you do, do not get FK452s. I've had countless fail by delaminating at the sidewalls before. I always see customers come in with Iforge, HRE, etc wheels, and they always tell me how they only paid $400 for their tires...

If you wanted "cheap", but still decent tires, take a look at the Federal RSRs or 595 if you really wanted something cheaper.

My VIP friends swear by the Nexen N3000s for some reason, so I guess you can check those out too.

Oops.. looks like I did "fail" on the topic indeed.. damn.. typo sorry

The next set I drop on my Z I may go with some more expensive choices.. but as I said I want to see how the car rubs them.. there is no sense in me buying $200 tires if they are gonna wear on the inside.. or ect.. car is dropped so I want to see what happens..

I would like to stay around $400 - $500 on this first set..

The cheapest I have found on tire rack is the Sumitomo HTR Z II and HTR Z III
The HTR Z III's are a bit more expensive but from what I have read they seem to be a decent tire..
From what Im reading about the HTR Z II's is that they have a really short life.. ppl. reporting only around only 15k...

can anyone confirm any info on these 2 tires? or maybe suggest something else in that price range?

ty Don for suggesting the nexens and federals, but I did some looking around and Ill be damned but I cannot find 275/40/18's for either.. maybe both brands do not have this size.. idk.

I have the HTR Z III, and they seem to be a good tire so far.

You dont have to get cheaply made tires just search around locally for a place that sells used tires. I do that all the time I have gotten (2) 285/35/18 Pirellis for $75 and so on.

I don't think you're going to be eating up rubber with a Nismo suspension. It's a mild drop with stiffer shocks and as long as your alignment is in spec, you're tires should last a full life depending on your driving habits.

yea you could be right its so hard to tell with the tires on it... they are basicly slicks now.. lol..
tbh.. because of the bent rim i had (it wobbled when driven) i never really drove the car much after getting it.. but now i got my lmgt4 i been lookin for.. for over a year now ... JOY! FedEx will be droppin it off today.. (I already got the car jacked up waiting.. lol )

I lucked out tho.. got a 18" lmgt4 silver shipped for $395 and it has some goodyear 245/40 on it with about 50% tread.. i really lucked out on that wheel.. its so hard to find a single wheel.. sets alone are now becoming hard to find without forkin over a kidney.

the Tires I have on the car now even tho are basicly bald are Pilot Sports.. and I got to admit.. even in there awful state they still do really well.. So I am afraid that what ever I choose I am probably going to be very disappointed..

but I am not gonna drop $1000 on my first set of tires

from what I hear the Z is not gonna get alot of miles out of any tire.. so umm.. to me it seems a waste.. maybe if i found a good deal...

The Sumi HTR-Z III and Hankook V12's would probably be your best bets. The ZIII would be a better handling option and have crisper response. The Hankook would last a tad longer and ride better. Have had great luck with the V12's. Call me if interested!

Ah. Yea, the RSRs max out at 265, for the 18", I believe, which is what I run.

I've also ran the HTRZIIIs before on my Porsche. I did a few Autox with them, and daily duty with them. They were a great tire in the beginning. Grip was good, and fairly smooth ride. The sidewalls are a bit soft, which lent to the smoother ride.

My only complaint about them was that their performance drop was fairly dramatic, versus a gradual performance decrease that I've experienced with other tires. They were great for the first month or two, and then after that, they just did not want to perform anymore. I am sure on the street it's not too bad, but I was still pretty happy to switch them out with a different brand/type of tire.

I switched to the RSRs after the HTRZIIIs, and are very happy with them. They've lasted me almost a year + now, and still feel decently good. It is almost perfect balance between price, wear, and grip for me.

well the deed is done guys.. went with the Hankook V12's.. I think I will be quite happy with them

tirerack has a $50 rebate going on them now.. which makes them a pretty good deal in case anyone else is looking for new tires.

thanks for all the suggestions.
