Lightbulb Optima Sports "Camber Tire"

Saw these on "Jay Leno's Garage:"

"The Optima Tire structure and footprint will complement negative camber settings on all vehicles with independent suspension by providing the maximum contact area when running straight and during mild turns, as well as during high steering conditions and when heavily loaded in corners. To meet more stringent government safety standards as well as continue advancing competitive performance standards, virtually every automobile manufacturer has increased the OEM degree of negative camber suspension settings on their lines. Especially significant OEM increases in negative camber suspension settings have been made to the SUV, Mini-Van, and Performance automobile lines. These increases clearly improve performance and safety via a marked
improvement in handling under load, both braking and accelerating, and through a reduction in emergency maneuver roll-over characteristics; however, have come at a significant price in terms of reduced wear capabilities leading to shorter life spans of tires which are already responsible for considerable portions of vehicle maintenance cost and eco-impact.

The inherent characteristics of the cambered Optima Tire are:

* Improved tread wear due to a more even footprint pressure distribution with a negative vehicle suspension camber setting.
*Reduced Tread Noise.
* Reduced tendency for emergency maneuver induced vehicle rollover (especially as applied to the SUV market – NHTSA potential).
* Reduced tendency for tire rollover. Tire carcass swing or distortion is minimized due to the acute angle of the outside sidewall to the tread surface.
* Increased vehicle base (track) width measured from the outer edge of the tire to the outer edge of the companion tire on the same axle.
* Will reduce the required steering angle input, which should also contribute to improved tread wear.
* Improved rim protection due to the outside sidewall being angled away from the rim.
* Wider Tires can be used and will fit in the same wheel well.
* Improved straight line steering.
* Improved handling performance.
* Improved straight line braking performance.
* Improved high-speed stability.
* ECE-R30 testing compliant as demonstrated by ABAQUS computer modeled study.
* Enables never before possibilities for oval track racing such as a combination of outside negative and inside positive camber settings.

Interesting... Makes neg camber act like zero camber when in a straight line. However, would this not reduce corner grip by effectively reducing the contact patch in corners? I don't quite understand how this can prevent significant body roll.
