Flat Black Question
When painting rims flat black, essentially there is no clear coat. Anyone here have a problem with durability of the paint versus a gloss finish which comes with a clear coat? The clear coat adds durability as well as UV protection. How about flattening agents in the clear coat which might give it a satin finish?
(I know powder coating may solve the problem, but it opens a bunch of new problems which I don't want to deal with like if the rims ever need a touch up).

HA!
No, I'm not going to use the rattle can. I've recently had my rims damaged (from a tire mount) and brought them to get fixed. There's difficulty getting the original color to match so I was thinking if they can't get the color right, I'd change it all together. It's being paid for by the tire shop so it's not like I'm paying to paint when I should be using that money for new rims. I have a magnetic black z and I'm not a fan of gloss black rims, so I was thinking of a satin black or even flat black but I was concerned about durability without a clear. I have heard of matte clears but don't know much about it and wanted to hear from you all. Thanks! Hopefully the guy can match the color, I find out tomorrow!
