PIC request: 275 on stock rear
THe rear tires need to be changed but i'll be waiting until it bolds out.Until then, I want to find out good set up. My car is not lowered or spaced, rather spend money on power. The front tires are 225/45/18 rear 245/45/18. Probably, you are by now, "oh not again..." "search damn you!" lol
245 looks REALLY skinny from behind so i was thinking maybe 265 or 275. I saw a pic of 275/40/18 on stock rims and they didn't look bad. But from my understanding, 265 is the highest you can go with the stock rims.
Please post up some 265 or 275/45/18 tires on stock rims including tire brand.
The reason i want 45 profile is that i don't want to lose the gap.

Proper rear would be a 275/40-18 and it has the same sidewall height as a 245/45-18. The only problem is you have an 05 with 8 inch wide wheels front and rear. Just get sticky 245/45's or spend money on some lightweight wheels. Lightweight wheels help a lot with power, its just like spending money on power.

umm.. but will 265/45 or 275/40 work fine on 8 inch wide wheels?

If you have looked at any sampling of wheels/tires here, you should have seen that 245/275 is the "standard" upsized combination. It's also noted here...

To answer your last question, 265/275 is too wide for 8" wheels. The max recommended is 255.

Depending on what kind of tire brand i use, the sidewall can be bulky or not?
If it doesn't get bulky then i would definitelly go with 255
Oh also, i calculated the tire size from stock to new (255/45/18) and it says the difference is "speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.3% too slow" will i be ok with my VDC?

Touring 18" v.1
18-inch Touring wheels V1
18-inch Touring wheels V1
These wheels are often labeled the "Touring" wheels, however they were featured as standard equipment on both the Performance and Touring models from 2003 through 2005 model years.
2003-2005
Aluminum Alloy
Front
Size: 18x8.0
Offset: +30mm
Weight: 26.56lbs
Tire: 225/45-18
Rear
Size: 18x8.0
Offset: +30mm
Weight: 26.56lbs
Tire: 245/45-18; 265/35-18 will also fit
I got this from 350ztech. It states that 265/35/18 will also fit. Is it because tires are 265/35/18 instead of 265/45/18? After the tire calculation, it seems like the VDC won't have problem with 225/45/18 and 265/35/18

275 would be nearly impossible so i'm guessing maybe 255/40/18 or 265/35/18 but 265/35 would be around 1 inch smaller in diameter than the stock size. But i'm not planning to lower the car lol..It would look ugly.

I have tried to point you to the post that explains it all. The front cannot be taller than the rears.

if you were tell me to look at the pic of the sidewall then yeah, i see that those tires won't fit on 8 inch rims..lol
I'm getting less bashing then i thought haha.
ok, i'll stay with 255/45/18. Do you recommend this?A lot of difference in sidewall look comparing to 245/45/18?

Im running a 265 on my stock rears (8in) right now. Its slightly oversized but looks fine, and has seen about 100+ laps by now too. I have 255s on my front though and they look 'better'.
275 would make me a little nervous, and start to look silly I think.

Doesn't matter, his rear wheels are wider than yours. Stop with the pipe dream.
