Default Question on mounting up my new winter wheels

Hi all. I just posted up my intro in the newbie forum.

I bought an '04 350Z last week and bought a nice set of used winter wheels and tires for it. They are Enkei 17X7's with almost new 225/55/17 Bridgestone Blizzaks. I went to test fit one of the wheels today and noticed there is something that looks like a spacer sticking out of the front brake rotor between 2 of the studs. What is it's purpose? I had to remove it in order to get the wheel on. Is that normal?

Also, it looks like the stock lug nuts aren't going to leave clearance for a socket so I'm assuming I need some new ones? I'm a little confused about the different types. Am I looking for an "Acorn" style now?

Thanks.

The 6th lug is to prevent you from putting the rear OEM wheels on the front. Just remove it.

Aftermarket wheels generally accept a nut with an cone or acorn shaped seat.

Would imagine the mods other members are going to tell you to search for the question/answer but the stud in the front is to make sure the rear wheels do not get mounted on the front. I removed it to put my Volks on perfectly normal

Not sure about the socket issue but I did need to get a deep socket for my Volks and there is not much clearance but it does fit. I am still using my stock lugs but I am in the market for some new ones though. Use the search above and there are a sh!tload of threads about lugs.

Makes sense about the 6th lug. I'll do a search for the lug nut issue. Thanks.

Had you read the new member welcome message, it would have directed you to both the Top 100 Questions thread and pointed out the layout of the forum which would have shown you the Wheels & Tires forum.

The Top 100 Questions thread has the answer to your question in it already. I think it's the #2 question. The Wheels & Tires forum has an entire sticky thread devoted to this very subject. It's full of pictures and everything!!!!!
