Question Will this wheel size and offset work?

For the front 18X7.5 with a 43mm offset
For the rear 18X8.5 with a 38mm offset

Will this work without any problems? What tire size do you recommend? Thanks.

Seems like an extremely conservative offset and wheel width. But I drive a 240 so who am I to talk?

The higher the offset number, the more the wheels stick out?

No, the higher the offset the more they tuck in. Stock on yours with 17s is +30mm front and +33mm rear, I believe. Stock 18s are +30mm both ends. my Nismos, 8.5" and 9.5", are +25mm front and +30mm rear. With a 7.5" in front, you wont be able to use a decent size tire. IMO, pass on those wheels. You have a lot of money invested that car, put a decent set of wheels on it, or if you can't afford it, keep the stock 17s.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Assuming you have 17s now, compared to stock,
the front will tuck in 13mm more, and may not clear the struts.
the rear will extend 1mm and will be 10mm closer to the struts.

Assuming you have 18s,
the front will tuck in 19mm, and be 7mm closer to the strut.
the rear will tuck in 2 mm and be 14mm closer to the strut.

The rears wont be a problem, but the front will. You could use the 8.5s all around and go with either 275/40 rear, 245/40 front, but the 275 is just a tad bit wide for the rim, however, it would work, or to be safe go with 245/45 rear and 245/40 front, maintain the proper stagger and dial out a little understeer.

Wow, I'm glad I posted this thread. I appreciate all the help guys. I currently have stock 17's, and I want to upgrade to 18's. I'm gonna keep it conservative and run a 225/45-18 up front and a 245 or 255/45-18 in the rear. Should I go with stock 18 wheel width and offset for the upgrade from 17's?

I would suggest looking for the biggest lip possible. Also going with 9" wheels out back and 8" in the front would be my suggestion. I think there is a section of this sight somewhere that shows members wheel's maybe they list offsets. On my 240 I am going with 18X10" wide in the back with something like +20 offset to get a huge lip. I have no clue what will fit on your car cause I drive a 240 but ask around and search for other people's selections and that might help.

This is a Z, not a celica, go with something a little wider. If you dont, you will wish you did later.

If you want to go 225 up front, dont go wider than an 8" wheel. The 225 already looks too narrow for the 8 on the stock rims.

I still think the 245/40 and 245/45 combo is the best all around compromise.

If you want to play with offsets, check this site out:
http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

stock are 17x7.5+30 and 17x8 +33

Most likely, I will go 18X8 up front, and 18X8.5 in the rear. What tire width for the rear with that wheel width?

I run 245/40-18 front and 255/40-18 rear on my Rays Track model wheels... they are 18x8 and 18x8.5... decent combination in my opion.

Some people have put a 265 and even 275 on the 18x8.5 Rays wheel.... a tire that wide really needs at least a 9" wide wheel.

On my 17x9 race wheels I run 275/40-17 front and rear... that tire just barely fits on that wheel. If I could, I'd get 17x10.

If you're going to run 18X8 and 18X8.5. Run 245/40s in front and 255/45s out back. If it were me (and it was) I'd go with 8.5" front and 9.5" in back.
