I'm looking to get these for my 04, but I can't find anywhere the size and offset I need.

I'm just going to stick with 17s. The website I found them at has 17x8 with a 40mm offset and 17x8 with a 48mm offset. I don't know which ones I need to buy.

Also, should I get four of the same size, or do two need to be different like the stock staggered setup?

 

neither of those sizes are Z friendly

ideally, widths of at least 8.5, with offsets ranging single digits to mid 20's up front, out back, widths of 9-11 are common, with offsets ranging as well (depends on the look you want, etc)

Same wheels size all around is fine. You just vary tire sizes.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

 

Generally members buy wheels, then shop far tires. Shopping for wheels to fit tires is also possible, but more restrictive.

 

Well I got the tires sometime after I got the car this summer, so they're still practically new, otherwise I'd go with 18s. I just can't make myself get new rims and need new tires when I have perfectly good tires still.

 

And tire sizes are what?

 

Pretty sure the fronts are 17x7.5, 225/50/17 +30 offset, and back are 17x8, 235/50/17 +33 offset. A quick Google search gave me that info. Since I'm on stock rims and the tires are the same size every time they're replaced, I would assume this is the case. It's too cold and late to go outside and look. :P

 

Just wait, it will be cheaper on the long run.

 

For wheels you can go 7.5, 8.0, 8.5-inches.

 

People buy new, almost new, used, and barely used tires. Alternatively, you could use your OEM set-up that has new tires in the winter months. As others have said, in the long run, you will wish you got larger wheels - something like 18x8-9.5 in the front and 18x8.5-10.5 in the rear with 245-265 front tires and 265-295 rear tires.

 

you are going to have a next to impossible time finding an aftermarket staggered wheel combo in specs that will allow you to use the same tires

you could use the same wheel size all around (like 17x8, mid 20 offset for example), and still stagger the tires...several model Z's came with staggered tires, mounted on a square wheel setup (same size all around) over the years.

ultimately though, you likely will crave something a bit more aggressive

 

and btw, you are using the tiniest tire i woud ever suggest seeing on this car,front or rear. They WILL affect your handling. Your argument is valid since you have the tires, but they are small bro.

 

I just got the same size tires that were already on the car when I got it.

I'd like to go with 18s. I just have to find some rims that aren't ridiculously expensive. I looked at the Volk TE37s and...haha, right. I'm not about to spend that much on rims. I'm having a hard time finding some good looking black rims with a red lip that fit the size I want/need that don't absolutely break the bank.

If I was that kind of person, I wouldn't be making a thread here asking for the ideal setup, would I? I could have easily bought the rims I mentioned in the first post, but I wanted to know what's best, which most of the people in this thread have been nice enough to help with.

I searched plenty of threads. Good job assuming I didn't, though. You're a real winner! I enjoy when people like you assume no research was done just because someone has a question.

I apologize if my question irritated you so much that you had to come in here and say something about it. I appreciate all of the helpful people, though. They make being here worth it.

Edit: In any event, I don't come here so someone can attempt to make me feel bad or belittle me because I had a question. I'm well aware that there isn't a "best" but there are definitely better options than others, and it didn't hurt one single person (except maybe you) for me to ask a question.
