My friend curbed a rim and I'm looking to put my summer tires back on soon, just noticed he got some of the tire too, about the thickness of half my key:




Do I need to replace this tire? The tread is otherwise fine, if so: should I replace both front tires?

Edit: also might be worth noting I drove on this tire with the damage for maybe two months already before swapping to the winter tires

 

any time there is sidewall damage, typically for safety reasons i would go ahead and replace that tire. that might lead to a blister since the rubber is now thinner at that location which when hitting a pothole or other debris, might be more prone to a blow out, or blister.

its not worth risking tire failure for $200.

 

Are these wheels for demolition derby?

 

Buy a used tire from mr goma on eBay to match. Measure treaddepth
And get a good match. Def replace that.

 

The wheel itself looks ok.
