Default Wheel Lip Size Question

How do I find out how big the lip size is on a wheel?
I believe the lip size has to do with the wheel size and offset.

For example: If there is a wheel that's 19x10.5 and with an offset of 52
or if there is a wheel that's 19x9.5 and offset of 35 how do I know the lip size?

Often times the manufacturer won't list the lip size so you will need to have someone measure it for you with a ruler (or a $100 bill )

Just listing the specs won't tell you much because not every wheel has a lip but generally the lower the offset, the wider the lip (if it actually has one).

Yeh but a 19x9 with 30 offset has a bigger lip then 19x10 with 30 offset i think.

If a wheel was 19x10.5 how much would the offset need to be for it to have a 6 inch lip?

I guess its best if I just find the wheels I like and ask around for their lip size...

Again, depends on the wheel.

Yes, narrow down your search and have somone take a measurement for you if it's not already listed.

there is no way to tell on your own OP.. as some wheels w relatively positive offset can have a huge lip becuase the spokes turn back in over the brakes.. ie TSW Thruxton.

Which btw is super ghey to roll wheels like this.

On a modular wheel it can still be affected by the same issue or back pad width. so after the long answer.. the real solution is again, CALL the manufacturer of the wheel you like, or estimate from looking at the pics and finding the listed offsets.

Sounds good bro thanks. Do you know of some 19 inch wheel brands with like at least 6 inch lips? (I don't plan on getting a wheel more then 10.5 inches wide.... maybe 11 max)

I know some but if you could list me a few that you know, it will be greatly appreciated.

Work Varianza T1S 19x10.5 step lip, deep disk(O disk), -26 offset has 153mm(6.02inch)lip

Weds Kranze Cerberus II 19x11 reverse lip, super low disk(S-Lo), -30 offset has 159mm(6.25inch)lip

Just a couple examples. Work, Weds, and SSR's charts tell the whole story.

To pull off 6 inch lips properly I would say you're going to need most if not all of these........coilovers, adjustable camber, stretched tires, and a fender roll/pull. I'm not an expert though. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong or add anything.

Generally manufactures do not state lip size. Width and offset are primary to fit, not the lip.

Best way to tell is to look at the wheel. It may be marketed as "deep dish" but this can be misleading.

i find deep dish used in advertising was especially tasty for pizzas , yet terrible for "deep dish hammers".. which were very cool in 1992 for your standard Geo Tracker or mini truck.

Allow me if you will a pictorial reference guide:

Deep dish Forged multipiece w 6 inch lip on my car ... GOOD

Deep dish Chicago style pizza... GOOD

Come on man, don't be posting food pics. I'm starving!

OP- Don't sweat lip sizes. Low offsets aren't even cool anymore

Cool, I was looking at the xxr 526 but I see what you mean. How is the Axis Penta wheel?
I feel like that might be weak as well.

I am probably going to stop looking and start saving for the good ones. Or maybe just go with something not deep dish since its expensive. Like the Five:AD S5:F Gun Metal, or the Advan Racing RG-D.

Anyways too early to decide for now.

PS: I haven't bought the car yet, I am still patiently waiting for the right one with low miles. Lol and I am already looking at wheels. I need to get off this forum for a while. I spend more then half my day here looking and refreshing the pages.....
