With winter coming what tires would you pick up?
I need new rear tires right away and I want to pick up some R-S3 or similar summer tires. How bad of an idea would it be to run these in the winter? My z is not my dd but I still want to take it out. What other tires would you people recommend for decent performance on a cold day?
I know this is a bad question....
Thanks!

Conti Extreme Contact DSW's. They are all season high performance. I have no complaints with them. Ive been driving with them for prob around 5k. They are a pretty quiet tire and as far as traction, last winter (although i try not to drive in the snow) i had no probs. They are good in the rain as well. Maybe check them out. I think i had all 4, mounted and balanced for around 900ish?

When it is snowy out or snows on the ground just drive your other car. No need to the Z out on a snowy day. I drove home in the snow one day in the suburbs of philadelphia (got caught in a snow storm in the middle of November)... it was the worst, my front bumper was hitting snow and throwing it up on the windshield.

Ok as a better point, why bother "sticking points" in cold temps? Tripping brodies and doing pulls in 30*!? makes no sense, but meh, I always loved the Eagle GT all seasons, amazing cold and wet traction.

you didn't say you had a beater in this thread..and you can't possibly expect people to remember that someone with 171 posts has another car
as to your question, no performance oriented tire grips well sub 35/40 degrees...none of them. The best all seasons will pale in comparison to a dedicated summer tire, and a summer tire in cold weather is useless as far as true grip concerned. So do what the rest of us due - drive a bit more sensibly when its cold/dry out, and run your summer tires all year round. If you're not planning on driving the Z in the snow anyway, it won't matter
