Two-tone Paint on Stock Wheels?
I bought my 04 used and it came with the painted white rims and the paint is chipping.

while im saving up for rays 57 ultimate

I was wondering if its possible, and difficulty rating, to do a two tone paint job for my current stock rims? I would love the black with accents of blue. Would this be too difficult? I would keep "easy" and just do like a line of dark blue on each flat part of the spoke or something of that nature.

I don't agree with the posting that said this would be "easy to do".Yes,it can be done.
But it depends on your expertise.First of all,to do it right,I'd remove the tires off the rims.
Start from scratch. You could do this with the tires on the rim.If you did,I'd makes a carboard template that will go over the tore just touching the edge of the rim.If you don't do correct prep work, you're gonna wind up with more chipped paint. As far as doing a thin blue line on the rim, this will be difficult, the OEM wheels really does not have a rim.
Its just a smooth surface. You will have to do some precise masking along the OEM rim.
Or,find some pinstripe tape of the right color for the trim.Painting the rims black should be no problem.Again prep is needed for a lasting paint job.I think your idea on doing some blue accents on the spokes is not gonna work.In my mind,it will look too busy.
I'd stop with the blue trim on the rims and save up for those RAYS.
One thing to keep in mind, when you get those Rays, you wanna sell your OEM rims, who's gonna buy rims in that color combo?OEM rims have little value anyway. You'll have to give e'm away.
GOOD LUCK!
On second thought, not worth the effort, dude.
Whats with this Plasti dip trend? These are cars not tool handles.
Looks like guys trying for the easy way out..not the best.
Go powder coat...will cost,but quality&durable.

I've been doing some research for a little while. and idk about plasti-dipping them. i was thinking more like wheel coating or engine paint duplicolor or something along those lines. .
to the poster above, yeah more thinking and i came to the conclusion of just doing one color, I'll have plenty of time to get this correct if i mess up.
i have a list on what/how to do it: i.e sanding, painting, clear coating etc. as winter is coming and the car will be in the garage for at least three months with no driving.
sry, i guess i didn't search hard enough

Who started this Plasti Dip trend?
I'm surprised guys are'nt doing rims in wrinkle finish(black)?
Wrinkle finish spray paint has been around forever.Gives a
rougher powder coated look for cheap. If applied right,is very durable.
Comes in colors...great for engine parts too.
Anyone done wheels in wrinkle finish?

I'm not into the thin color stripe around the rim edge look. But,I always wondered HOW
they put that stripe on the wheel?
Noted on e-bay there is a co. selling colored rim stripes used for bikes, also car use.
they are sticker'decals. To me its semi-rice.But,thats me...
Not seen these done on a car.
