Seriously Cant Decide
i have done tons of searching and know about a lot of the popular wheels for the Z's but i still cant decide which ones i want to go with. I would love to get some volks or works but i just dont want to spend $2500+ to get them atm, so i am wanting to get something around the $1500 range, give or take a few hundred for the rims only (not including tires). I have a PPW Z with stock suspension atm.
my number one pick would be the works vs-xx in burning black but like i said its just out of what im willing to spend atm and i believe they dont make them in burning black anymore, so i was wondering if anyone could suggest some options for me and give their opinions on what i should check into. I definately want a deep lip and probably a mesh type wheel like the vs-xx. i also see a ton of people going with the te37 replicas and i just dont know if i would like that type of wheel design on my Z or not because i havent seen them on anything in person so its hard for me to make my decision =/ ive also seen the varrstoen 1.1.2 with the step up lip but i seen some pics of them on PPW z's and i just dont think it would look very good on stock suspension.
any input is welcome, no flaming please
like i said ive done a ton of research but its not the same as interacting with people about it, and i also know its my decision to put what type of wheels i like on my car but like i said i just am trying to get some input on what brands/types of wheels are out there for the Z in my price range. thanks in advance to anyone who replies

Welcome to the site, fellow MN'er.
It took me over a year of window shopping before I found the wheels I wanted. Take your time, look at lots of pics, and maybe make an album to save those pics and look back at them later.
I also have a PPW and finally settled on 5-spoke bronze wheels. I had to decide on the design and color to narrow my search. Lots of wheels look good, but you need to figure out what you like the best on your car. I knew I couldn't go wrong with the 5-spoke design.

Also ask yourself what you want the wheels for? Racing, showing, regular driving? Are you willing to take care of them? You'll need to learn what NOT to do with expensive wheels. Also know this: 18" wheels are more common and so are the tires. That's all I'm going to say.
You're looking at probably $1000 for nice wheels to start and another $800-1000 for a good set of tires.

I was stuck on the VS-XX for the longest time. I couldn't justify the cost since I only drive the car maybe 6 months out of the year. I also like the SF Winnings if you're into the mesh look.

if i could find a solid set for around 1000-1500 for just the wheels i would be happy, anything less for something that is still worth that much would be awesome too, kinda like how i seen someone post the 800$ thing about the axis pentas, that i can only seem to find for 1200+.
edit: i also seen that the 19" axis pentas weigh about the exact same as the stock 18's i have on my Z atm.

edit: and the wheels i posted, i am just seeing if anyone has any info on them, and if they would look bad on the Z, like some of those i posted are only available in +35, some are +20.. im assuming the ones with +20 would be best? and i also seen some with +25, would i want those offsets all around or +20 front +25 rear? or does that all depend on the width of the rim too?

The route I would take if it were me, I would save up and post up a WTB thread for 19" work vsxx in burning black and keep searching around. might get some used ones that you can refinish and do a little custom hardware on them and end up with a unique set of wheels and exactly what you want for a pretty decent price. And when you are tired of them, they would resell for a ok price if taken care of
otherwise
due to the budget the advant garde m310 might be an option. not exact style to the works you like but its a nice style wheel to roll around on till you get what you want later when the $ is available.

Its a pain...I went through about 6 months of looking, what was available in stock, finish, size etc.I agree with you,I like the mesh look on the Z.Also,
I originally was looking at 18".Went with 19's.Glad I did.Cost is a factor.
Also,as another poster mentioned,whats the use?Everyday driving?Track?etc.
I think too much is made out of having a lighter wheel..especially for everyday
driving. When I made my final selection,I went with ACE Strada's.I was not looking for a black wheel.I wanted more of a "alloy" look.I hate chrome. The ACE are listed as hyper-black with a polished lip.Its a very light hyper-black.
They are not available in black. The SF Winning may be a good choice for you for a black mesh type rim.On the mesh design,if you get too many "y's"(thats
the configuration that comes off the hub)the wheel looks too spokey to me.
The ACE with I believe,7 "Y'S"is about right.
Good luck!
nice, i actually am going to try out the advant garde m350... its a 5 spoke design with a deep dish... hope it turns out
edit: i will be using it for cruising, not tracking. the wheels i ended up getting are very close to same weight as my stock wheels, fronts are literally .2 lb difference and the rears are only about 2-3 lbs heavier =/ but a bigger wheel all together will give me more traction, so i hope it works out well.

i am going to try these out, i like the look, and the dish is deep... hope it turns out when i get them.
edit: i know its not a mesh design but ive seen some 5 spokes that look really good on ppw, so like i said with the deep dish, i hope it looks good
