Default Wheels for daily driver + track

I'm a noob when it comes to wheels and tires. Currently I have 18" Sport Edition A7s on my 03 Performance Z. I've been thinking about getting lighter 17" wheels due to them weighing less and being cheaper when buying new tires.

I was wondering if anyone could check out these wheels and tell me if they are any good. They weigh 10 lbs less per wheel than my current set. How much of a difference would 1 inch smaller, 40 lbs lighter wheels make when at the track?

Also, this is my daily driver.

Here are the wheels: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

Thanks guys!

RPF1s are a great wheel for everything you mentioned. However, 17x8.5 in the front and rear doesn't leave you with many tire options. I see Tirerack only has 17x10 in silver but not in black. I would opt for the 17x10 for a wider tire selection. Good luck.

+1 great wheels, but you should go wider so you can fit more tire, also do you want to run a square set up or a staggered?

5Zigen FN01Rc is another option. My 17X9" wheels weigh 18 or 19 each. They're for sale, let me know if you might be interested.

Go with 18s, I love RPF1s so much I bought 8. But that's a far cry from guys like Scotts300 who literally have 300 of them.

Huge improvement over current set up. That's unsprung wt reduction..the equivalent of taking out 160Lbs (4X factor) or free 15 HP.

17 or 18 in RPF1 is a great setup, or you could even run a 17 front and 18 rear.

Default tires for DD & track

My 2007 Z just turned 25k miles and the factory potenza's are shot. I am planning on getting some volk te37 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 rear wheels and am wondering which tires are good for daily driving and I will autocross/drag my car probably once or twice a month. I would like something sticky but that will also last more than a few thousand miles. should I go with 245 front and 275 rear size tires or something else? so what would be the best tire for my setup with no budget? and what about somewhere in the 800-1000$ budget? thanks

I'm assuming staggered means 17" front and 18" rear? Like I said I'm a noob at wheels/tires lol. What are the advantages of staggered vs square (all the same size?)

Does the size of the wheels matter in terms of 1/4 ET or does it only depend on the weight of the wheels?

Run lightweight 17s or 18s at the track. 19s for daily or show.

Well I was wanting 18's, but I cant find/dont know if they made the volks I want in 18's. The seperate set of wheels is a great idea but i wouldn't use them that much like i said maybe once a month and i dont know how hard it would be to fit all that in the small trunk space we have, as sometimes i will have a passenger riding with me to the track, so i dont think its worth it to me to have a seperate set. i just want one set i can rely on for both track and street, rain or shine

Staggered means different wheel widths front and rear. (18x9.5 and 18x10.5)

A square set up is the same wheel width all around. (18x10.5 and 18x10.5)

if you are budget minded, a 18x9.5 or if you want to spend a little more on tires/wheels go with a 18x10.5 all around. A square setup is more cost affective for track.

Volk cares about performance, so yes they will make the TE37 in 18 inch sizes. Even better get some TE37sl wheels.
