Default Snows Front & Rear Same Size Guardex K2F721

Quick question - have a set of stock Z 17" rims, and a set of Yokohama Snows (Guardex K2F721 ). They are 225/45R17's, vs. the 235/50 rear or 225/50 front profile stock rubber RE-040's...

Near as I can tell this puts the rear about 0.4" lower than the front compared to stock. Keeping in mind these are major snows with serious tread, can I safely use these on my Z? No traction control or VDC, just Base.

I'm not sure compared to the worn Bridgestones that the Yokis would even be smaller on the outside diameter, what has me wondering is the use of all four tires the same vs. stock rear is a little taller.

Any ideas? The tires are mint and my only cost is mounting them onto the rims & alignment, I plan to go to 18" rims in the Spring with fresh rubber. Too few choices for the 17" tires.

I looked into a set of Michie Pilot Sports A/S, one of the few tires I can find with the exact stock size match...

Any and all help appreciated.

Happy Holidays,
SteveZ

i don't think it'll harm the car any. i've seen on the board about people getting vdc malfunction but i think that was only when the rear tires' overall diameter was smaller than the front tires'. it'll definitely be better than driving on stock tires in the winter.

you shouldn't need an alignment after swapping tires either.

Thanks for the holiday reply - the rears now are about 0.4" taller than the fronts with the stock summer tires. They would I think be the same F/R with the snows , the 0.5" rim width difference in the rear should not matter.

p.s. Don't forget the crackers if you go on Holiday
