Default 17" Wheel Question - Rota P45R

So ill most likely get attacked for this thread because I'm new here but here it goes.

I have an 03 350z with oem 17" rims currently on it. I am looking to purchase Rota P45r's in either 17's or 18's. I have searched around on here and although i have a general idea of what i need i just wanted to be positive before i went ahead and bought them. My question is what is the best option offset etc. to buy that will fit on without the need of spacers or rolling my fenders to fit properly. Basically I want the same ride as stock just with different style rims.

specifically here is what I'm looking at,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/17x9-9-5-ROT...ht_3611wt_1413

Would these fit ok without any problems? Again sort for the newbie question but i want to be 100% positive before i make the purchase. Thanks for any help!

They will fit no problems. Offsets are fine. If you really want to go for a better *look*, might wanna go 18".

Yea I think i might, I don't mind 17's but if I'm going to go through the trouble of getting new rims i mine as well go at least 1 size bigger. Main reason i was considering 17's is so i could keep my current tires but they don't have too much life on them so its not that big of a deal. Thanks for the clarification on the rim sizing!

Hate to keep asking questions because I'm sure you guys hear these all day, but in the 17's i was able to find the ones like i posted which are 9 in front and 9.5 in back. Looking at the 18's it seems everybody is selling them 9.5 all around, are there any benefits or down sides to this? Thanks again

No..I have 18's with 9.5s all around. Your set up will be fine...no big advantage with 9 vs 9.5 up front. In fact, you really want a *staggered* set up like yours. A *square* set up like mine is prone to oversteer, but measures can be taken there to minimize that.

Might stick with 17's then to avoid the oversteer issue. I can't seem to find the 18" p45rs in hyperblack with a staggered set up so far all i am seeing are sets of 9.5 all around

Go for the 9.5s all around if you want 18s...no worries. You won't see any any problem with the tail comming around (oversteer) unless you are really hammering it in a corner. I do a lot of crazy diving, so to avoid the tail happyness, I put a bigger front sway bar on along with 5mm spacers in the rear. You'll be fine with 9.5s and no other mods..trust me. If you do that, go with 245/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rear. Perfect set up.

Alright i think ill trust you and give that a try then. 18's will definitely look nicer. Now one last question (i promise lol) These are the ones I'm looking at now,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/18x9-5-ROTA-...ht_2967wt_1413

Would a 20 offset all around be ok? I forgot what the stock offers were for the 17" rims so I'm not sure how different it would be. I don't want anything cagy, just something that looks like it belongs. Really appreciate the help btw i know a lot of other people would have just responded "search" lol

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Members choose 17 18 19 20 inch wheels. Generally a 20 inch wheel will weigh more than a 17 inch wheel. A 17 inch tire will be considerably less expensive than a 20 inch tire.

Yea i understand all that, just the widths and offsets had me a little confused was all since i never really messed around with the rims on a car before.

No problem. Also, you're at stock ride height....that assures no possible issues here! I would suggest that you read up on offsets to *educate* yourself though.

Wheel width, offset and fit can be confounding. Just use the offset calculator and see the position of the new wheel in relation to the current wheel.

Just upgrade to 18's and the square setup is just fine. Even with a completely square tire setup your car will still understeer as it does now. If you look around you will see that 18x9.5 front and rear with Rota is popular and you will normal run a 255/40-18 front and 275/40-18 rear.

It appears that you have 2 concerns, price?and keeping the same "ride".
If you stay with 17's you can get cheap.18's will also be pretty low.
As far as ride goes,I went from OEM 17's to 19's and the ride was actually better!

GJ picking the 18's. My opinion, but 17's look a bit too small, 18's are good, 19's are perfect , 20's start to get a little on the silly side (depends on the type of wheel)
