Lowering
sundevil,
the nismo S-tune suspension kit is pricey. $1400 check this link if you can.

the nismo kit is not a coilover in the sense that you can't lower it more than the 20mm. But i think most dealers will service the part as a warranty item (not sure if you have to have it put on by nissan though). The ride is still very streetable, i drive it everyday and it doesn't bother me. Yes the ride is slightly lower, slightly harder, but the shocks are not that stiff like all out racing shocks. The nismo S-tune stuff has been tested on a track although the S-tune stuff is made more for street use, but some people here use it for both. I really like the nismo suspension, i think it handles a lot better and it doesn't make the car noticeably harsher. Keep in mind i upgraded to nismo sway bars too for more handling, but you won't have to do this if you like the way your car feels now around turns. Anyways, eibach or nismo, you can't go wrong, plenty of people here have either and i don't hear too many complaints.

I was going to save this question untill I get my wheels but. I know there is different spring kits.
If I went with the Tein kit ( I think there is one) which lowers .7 of an inch. Would that be sufficient not to have to worry about a camber kit?

anything less than .8" of a drop can be pulled within spec, but many complain about the drop not being noticable, and thats why many go with Eibachs/TEIN/RS*R or like me Tanabe
My drop was a beautiful 1.5" and i still need an alignment, so i will tell you how close they can be pulled within spec.

I've now had a couple of days to look at it and now I am not so sure if it is worth bothering to lower it. Especially such a small distance. I have to mull it over some more. Those of you who said to drop it, did you really look at the picture, or do you guys just like dropped zs?! I value the opinions in here, so please take one more look at this side view and let me know if you think it looks funny with the low profile tires -

i personally agree with what someone said. if you are going to race get a coilover system. if you are going to just do light driving. get springs and a camber kit. which is what i might do.
have not decided if i want something small enough to be pulled into spec or some more that will require a camber.
Actually when you compare stock rims to new rims, you can see that the new rims fills out the gap a little better since it was a 17" to 19" upgrade. So when you see it in that perspective, it looks much better. Maybe you should keep it like this for a while. It sounds like you're happy with the current performance and lowering just brings in extra precautions like slowing down for bumps or being careful on steep driveways. After you drive around for a while and go on some cruises with other Z members you might want the eibachs then, so wait for now, you can always put them on later. Wait till the mod fever kicks in hehe.
i definetly think that you should drop it about an inch and a half and go with a camber kit if it cant be pulled within spec. Every time i look at my Z i love the way there is almost no gap. Do it and you wont regret it
I got 19x8.5 (F) and 19x9.5 (R) and the tien flex coilover kit w/edfc. I lowered the car about 2in and it rides perfectly (little-bit of bounce)....here is a pic https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=57838

Yeah, that one is too low for me too. I wonder if I just do .08" in the front and 1" in the rear with the Eibach Pro kit if it would look good. I am already scraping on sharp driveways anyway, so I don't think this would make it much worse. I am most worried about changes in handling.
I am in the same dilemma..... i just got my 2nd set of 19s and this time i'm really thinking of lowering it. the gap isn't incredibly large or anything but i know that i'll look better if i did lower it. i was considering the eibachs or the teins basic coilover. the main difference for me is price. i've had eibachs on my previous car and it wasn't the greatest. it tended to be really bouncy. but then the teins are 4x the price of the eibachs. so what to do??
When I got my 19s, the gap made the car look tall. I wanted a more agressive look. So I went with the eibach. I got an alignment right after I installed it. It's pretty easy, there are some tutorials on the forum to show you how. The ride is better. For me it felt smoother, less bumpy. I think if you see another 350z lowered, you will consider doing the same.
Here is my car the same night when I installed the springs and got an alignment.

Do you have any pics of a side view of the car?
I am mostly worried about scraping on driveways - it is an everyday driver. I just put a stillen exhaust in today, and the muffler also sits a little lower to the ground than the stock one; and I wouldn't want to scrape that.

I have not had time to get a side shot. But I have a back side shot that kind of gives you an idea. Also I have a stillen exhaust. I scraped a few times on big bumps, but I was going kind of fast. Nothing in the front yet.
Here is an old picture of my car without the springs.

Here is a back picture with eibach.

If I have time, I'll try to get another shot side view.

Mgl, I too was facing the same problem. I wanted coil overs but didn't want to break myself. I also considered if I'm going to really need the adjustability. Next to that I wanted to set it and forget it just like that rotisserie oven deal. My thoughts for now: I can have the look that I want to achieve and later I can always get coil overs if I want to expand the suspension behavior for different purposes. But I have to say that these springs were not bad when I went auto crossing/drifting. Then again, I don't do that all the time. I like to cruise the bay area.

LOL
i never thought bout comparing springs to a rotisserie chicken oven thing.
yeah for now i'm just gonna leave it as is. i 'll probably reconsider the whole lowering thing in a couple of months and i will go with the teins at that time, just so i can adjust as needed so my front lip isn't dragging on the floor.
I have the Tien w/edfc. I had the coilovers installed but because the edfc was going to be another 4hrs to install they told me that i had the option of coming back. I am going back on the 5th o fFeb to get it installed....so yes it can be done and I recommend this to anyone who is going to get thier car lowered. Getting the coilover kit allows you to raise and relower at a later date......best money I have spent on the car as of yet.
Hey all,
I've got my car lowered now, but I am afraid to put on another stillen exhaust like I had on my last Z - worried that I will scrape the hell out of it, since I am already scraping on every steep incline I go over. Anyone have experience with this? I don't want to ruin a new exhaust - but I really liked it last time and hope I can get another....
thanks.
