Different tire patterns F/R
Hi, i have had the fronts replaced at the dealer due to cupping, and now the rears need replacing at 22,000 - however the fronts have more than half tread left. Obviously, i want to go to SO-3's, but would it be prudent to do so just on the rears until the fronts wear down? Or do i need to replace them all now? Your thoughts please.....
Some have said that on a performance car, having different tire patterns on the front can negatively affect handling. Since you want to go with the SO3s, I would try it. If you don't like it, the worst that can happen is that you'll have to replace the fronts.

I made the run from Dallas to New Hampshire and back for the Z Convention last October, (including running at their track event at NHIS) for a total of almost 5,000 miles on Michelin Pilot Sport fronts and Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3 rears with absolutely no problems. Go for it!
Since you got the front replaced for free, go for the set of 4 now. It isn't recommended having different patterns/compounds mixed. You might get away with it on a beater but don't skimp on a performance car.
the tire shop said not good.
of course they obviously had motives for saying that. but I was buying 4 tires either way. I have eagle D1S on back and toyo on front. they said that was ok, cause the tread "design" was the same(look identical).
