and I need some advice..... I have Rays track wheels and I live in an area where we get no snow, but ALOT of rain......what high performance tire would you guys recommend for these conditions that is QUIET..and sticks well to the road...your feedback is welcomed

 

I had a good experience with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's

 

Goodyear F1 GS-D3. These tires received good reviews at Tirerack.com.

the S-03s are great in the rain

 

Toyo Proxes T1-S are great in rain and dry weather, plus they have some of best ratings out there. The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 is shaping up to be a good option as well but still has nowhere near the miles on the reviews that the Toyos have.

 

Anybody got reviews on the BFG KDW "New Tread" ??

 

I love my Dunlop SP9000s. On the track wheels, I'd put 245/40/18 in front and 255/45/18 in back. This combo will greatly lesson the understeer built into our cars.

The Dunlops are great in the rain, handle very well, and are quiter than most performance tires. I think you'll love 'em. The price is right also.

Ill also go with the Goodyear Eagle GSD3. We dont get much rain down here...but when it does, it comes in buckets. Ive been very much impressed with its wet weather handling and its dry grip is incredible!

 

but most of the owners here seem to be using the Michelin pilots or the Bridgestone pole positions......personally...as much as these OEM tries grip.....they are EXTREMEMLY Noisy......I've been to alot of websites over the past few days....reading tire reviews...and almost all of them mentioned NOISE...and UNEVEN wear as two main reasons why they wouldnt buy our 18" OEM tires again....


and its for that reason I'm reluctant to even consider any Bridgestones....any feedback would be appreciated...and thanks for the suggestions...

sometimes I wonder if all this discussion about tire feathering is really just about rather poor tires....if they can feather on a Lexus or Audi....why not our cars?....but I'm no expert at all.

I've go to the track extensively and have some real world experience with some of the tires recommended here. The S-03s are a great tire and Bridgestone's dual compound technology really works well. After being badly feathered through track use, they still worked well in pouring rain. A bit pricey though...

The Toyo TS-1 is a nice track tire and was shaved for racing use. The dry grip is, (as they say) SICK, but isn't quite as good as the S03s in the wet.

The Goodyear F1 GSD3 is my favorite so far. A high treadwear rating (280), together with excellent dry and wet performance, combine to make this an attractive option. I also like a tire with progressive breakaway characteristics to allow varying slip angles (a fancy way of saying it helps the driver make controlled slides). Together with a slightly lower off-the-rack cost gives the Eagle F1 a slight edge.

Any of these three tires would be good choices, however.
