Default tire feathering

I discovered some serious tire feathering and bumps when I took my wheels off. what is causing this? my wheels were balanced and I did an alignment. they are 20x10 offset is 23. tire is 285 30 20. No fender roll. The feathering is on the inside of the tire.

really? The inside is near bald, and there is plenty of tread left on most of the tire. Isn't that bad?

Do you know the exact alignment specs? I'm assuming since you're running 20s with a 23 offset you have some extra neg camber to avoid clearance issues

thats completely normal. stock rear camber spec is somewhere around 1.1-1.6 . i have mine at 2 so mine wear like that too. the closer you get to 0, the better the tire wear will be and the worse it will handle around turns.

-1.1 to -2.1 is OEM rear camber spec. Then camber should be set to driving habits. If you live in a place that has a lack of straight road, hit canyons all the time or track/autocross you want more camber. Only straight roads (like Vegas ) and never play in the corners, set at the lower side of the range.

Let me help you so you know what tire feathering actually is http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Tire+feathering+

That is not feathering, looks normal to me

One thing I will say was that you should check your front LCA bushings, they have a way of failing which ruins any front alignment

I could dial out at about .5 degrees and put them within spec by adding adjustable rear camber arms...leaving in STOCK TOE bolts. If your car is lowered more than 1.5" you'll need the camber bolts as well.

That is actually normal wear from the higher end of OEM camber. Thats what they will look like over time. Instead of this song going off in your head everytime you walk out to your car.

You need to do a walk around and look at it, inside and outside of tires. if the tires were flipped on the wheels a few thousand miles ago, he could have doubled the life of the tires.

Its called an alignment, and the car is also 10 years old. Next, the fethering problem is up front, this is in the rear. Last, as mentioned above THIS IS NOT FEATHERING

As everyone else had said, that looks normal. My rears on the inside portion are bald...but it's just normal camber wear.

Well..it's normal to wear out the insides due to neg camber. However, I had 15 K miles on mine and around 2.5 degrees (out of spec) and nowhere near this amount of wear. That's why I was thinking 3 degrees or so. Maybe these tires have over 25K miles on em?
