Default Getting wheels soon. Need tires.

It looks like this subject (along with everything else involving the z) has been beat to death; however, I can't seem to search out what I'm looking for.

I'm going to be going with 275/40/18s and 255/40/18s on an 18x9.5 +15 square wheel set up.

However, now I have to figure out tires.

I want at LEAST as grippy as the OEM tires, because well I don't want to die.
and I'd prefer if I could get at least 20k miles out of them, though more would be better as this car is my daily driver. I only throw out 20,000 because I noticed the Eagle F1s have a 45,000 mile warranty or half that for staggered tires.

It doesn't snow much here in alabama, but it sure does rain, so that is also a consideration.

What do you guys think along the lines of tires?

I talked to a tire shop here in town but then realized I had no clue on brands or anything like that so he just quoted me some khumos (sp?) without telling me which set of khumos for about $200 a tire and said they're rated for 60,000 mile.

I told him I'd get back to him once my wheels come in and I'd done more research on tires.

Any help at all is appreciated gents.

Thanks in advance.

Most tires in this category are rated around 280.
If you want a all-weather touring tire you can ratings well over 400.
Get 40k off v-12's(by the way I have e'm,they are great),not gonna happen.
Also,the v-12's are very quiet.Its not a M&S tire.
You drive a Z.Get a tire suited for the car.Lower tread life is the trade off.

Default Cooper's

Whatever you do stay away from the Cooper line. I went through 2 full sets within 3K miles. I got he second set only as I ASSUMED they would warranty their product which they did not. I do not beat on this car either.

Bought a set of Toyo Proxes (had great luck with them in the past on my 97 SHO) and 3000 miles later they still look new. Andrew at Treaddepot.com took very good care of me and I recommend him/them very highly.

Joe

(If you like I'll specify which Coop's they were - it just escapes me right now)

Check out Sumitomo HTR-Z III at TireRack; it's on clearance. I like it so much I have three sets.
