Default Where o Where did my custom rims go?

I ordered some special color SF Challenges the first week of Oct. 2003. It's nearly Feb 2004 and I STILL haven't gotten them.

So where o where did my custom rims go?

Anyone order special color Volks want to let me in how long it took you to get them? That way I can have some comfort in knowing that I'm not the only one sitting here and waiting... and waiting... and waiting....

Seriously, I've waited longer for my rims... than my pre-order Z.

12-16 weeks isn't unheard of. Actually I've seen special orders take 6-8 months. Good Luck...it'll be worth the wait.

How long did they say it would take when you ordered them?

60 - 90 days. That's why I'm bummed.

According to Jimster if it's gonna take 6-8 months... I would expect them to know better and quote a better ETA.

I dunno, it's just the color of the rims... not custom offsets or anything tricky that has to be machined so I'm not sure why it takes an extra 3-4 months just to do a color change.

Right now I have 50% deposit sitting on a product that I don't know the ETA for.

I would definately be pissed if they told you 90 days. See if someone else can get them for you and get your deposit back.

A lot of times it's not the retailer's fault. They can only guesstimate according to their previous experiences...especially with Volk. Sometimes production allows for special orders and other times there is just too much regular production orders. Unfortunately Rays isn't in the business of scheduling special orders and having information related to that.

Yeah I realize it's usually not the retailers fault since they are the bottom of the food chain.

Right now I'm more pissed at Mackin Industries who deal will hundreds of Volk orders (as distributors) not being able to properly give a good estimate to their vendors.

I would think Mackin as a licensed distributor could call the manufacturer and say "hey, what's up with order #449457804?" and push to get some information back to the customer.

Mackin is awful. When I ordered the 19" TE37 for my Z, when they were brand new, back in October of 2002, I waited 6 months. I ordered through R&D Motorsports, who deals with Mackin. Nobody had any clue where my wheels were, what the delay was for, estimated arrival date, when they were produced, nothing. R&D just kept saying "2 weeks", "2 weeks", like a parrot. And wouldn't even consider giving me my deposit back.

Even when I went to Mackin, nobody was of any help in answering any of my questions. I think there is literally one or two people that are responsible for Volk Racing wheel orders. I didn't end up receiving my TE37s until April of 2003. Mind you, that was 2 or 3 months after people who placed their order after me received the same exact wheel.

Crap. That's bad. Oct... to April... that's 7 months.

Yeah I've had several people order SF Winnings and GT-C's and they got them within 3 months... and they got the most popular colors like gunmetal and silver.

I was tempted to cancel, ask for my deposit, and instead use it to buy some bike gear, but I'm pretty sure like Daytona's experience, they won't. It makes sense cause it's a "deposit".... but what doesnt' make sense is how can the distrbutor, manufacterer, and vendor all be completely clueless as to where the wheels are.

I ordered them in Nov and expected a wait. They said Feb, but I dont really care as long as they are here by April when the snow melts.
