Rota upset by counterfeit knock offs
I've noticed with replicas that they tend to be more readily available and offered in a wider variety of sizes, offsets, and colors, and for most people other than "wheel snobs" as stated above, it doesn't matter enough. The replicas are good enough quality where it suits their needs and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I have also personally had fine experiences with replicas in general, and know plenty of people who own Rotas and not one of them have anything bad to say or have ever had one crack or bend or anything.
Would be nice if people that did feel it was necessary to go with authentic wheels would be content enough with their purchase to not try and hate on those who who could care less though. I went with some Konig wheels for my summers simply because I liked the wheel and it was a reasonable price, and I went with some replicas for my snows for the same reasons, and each serves their purpose well.
Not offended, I just see no benefit to ignorant comments, where do you draw the line? Right now it's hating on people who like to do things to their cars which you may not agree with, tomorrow it's hating on people for their lifestyle choices. It doesn't harm you so why make vast generalizations that potentially could harm someone. Mob mentality and ignorance only perpetuates blind hate, it's dangerous territory.

Bored at work making memes today... I see what you're all saying but damn this is whole rota situation is funny no matter what.
Lol, can't say I didn't think the relationship of Rotas and gay marriage was a far stretch, I was just trying to get my point of ignorant comments being just that, ignorant.
It's only a miracle how the mass general population survives on their inferior wheels.
Thank god I waited 11 months and paid $4000 on volks for grandma. If I could have, overnight parts from Japan. Probably added 5 years to her life. RIP Nanna.

problem is that the people buying these wheels do not need them...their OEM's work fine. It is that they want the look of aftermarket wheels and are willing to sacrifice safety to save money
The counterfit company will only survive if there is a market for the cheaper/inferior product.
No I completely understand, I just thought of Leo's epic expression when I read your post and had to make this meme LOL.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened up a case on chromed 350z wheels cracking and closed the case based on the chroming process being at fault. Nissan were not held responsible even though at the time you could have ordered a chrome upgrade package right off their website.

Wow cast wheels are that bad huh?
Well my buddy's Rotas were being tracked for a few years. When he took em off a while back, he found out one of the wheels are slightly bent out of shape. Like it's no longer perfect circle.

Can happen to any wheel, to include the all mightily Volk. Drop a wheel in the right spot, or hit the wrong rumblestrip, BAM, egg shaped wheel. SOW is great for destroying wheels, that is where I bent most of mine.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the wheel companies teamed up to make these "replicas" to try and take back there market share they lost. Better to get part of something then nothing.
People don't understand what these companies go through and how much time and money is invested to come out with new products. The day they go under and companies like "Rota" have nothing else to copy because they have no originality, we as enthusiasts are screwed.

Probably any wheel can be broken if taken enough damage. Rotas just happen to be a popular wheel so there's more cases. A quick search online and you could find cracking wheels from companies like BBS or other top wheel manufacturers too. But the real issue here is people need to start learning how to avoid potholes in general instead of thinking their car can handle it. I avoid them and speed bumps even though I'm stock like the bubonic plague.

If it was really that big of an issue, the authentic companies could easily come out with cast versions of their wheels that would be able to compete with the replica market and have the added bonus of being authentic. So far very few have seemed to make that any type of priority.
Fact is, if someone runs the counterfeits of rota and has issues, Rota is going to have to deal with a whole bunch of legal BS simply because another company is using their logo on their products. A press release like this helps cover their backs and alleviate the situation by saying upfront that it is in no way their product.
Now, they might have to deal with some PR BS if this happens, but legal? I don't see how...
