Default Wheel Corrossion/Pited = Paint / Chrome Lip

Hey guys,

I just took my car out for the first time today after a 5 month winter nap. I just washed it and noticed some sort of corrosion on the chrome lips of all of my wheels. Also, the black portion of the wheels..the paint and finish has become dull. I believe some chemical which was used in my condos underground garage which got all over them when these guys cleaned...I'm assuming, not sure why else this happened. Car was covered up for the winter.

Does anyone know how I can clean up the chrome to make it shine and look new again?

Also, is there special paint, maybe heat resistant paint which needs to be used to refinish the black portion of my wheels?

Try Blue Magic on the chrome. It is a miracle worker!

Used it on my wheels from my last car as well as exhausts and other metal parts. It really works wonders. It also leaves a strong coat that repels dirt and other contaminants.

And you don't need special heat for the black portion of your wheels. Regular paint works just fine. Just make sure you clear it after you paint or else it will easily chip.

I don't think those wheels have chrome lips. I believe the lip is polished stainless steel so they should be pretty east to polish out the imperfections.

Much appreciated guys.

The rear wheels, it's like a chrome stainless layer on the lip. The front lip seems like solid chrome. I could be wrong.

I just ordered Blue Magic, gonna give her a go.

Thanks guys.

For sure the lip is a polished stainless steel. The fix is cleaning the metal (to remove contaminants that could damage the metal’s surface) and then polishing with a very low abrasive. --Spike
