For my own learning, what didn't you like about each set?

Hankooks can feel a little squishy, so I know not everyone likes feeling the sidewall shift in lateral changes, but as a daily they're one of the best tires out there...I'm guessing that and tread life are what you didn't like?

Nittos I've always been told to avoid....from friends that worked in tire sales...although I know there's always an exception, but I think there are many tires better than any Nitto.

Continentals I'm curious about...as I've never owned a set but they're highly regarded. What bugged you?

Which Goodyears? What didn't you like?

The RE760 Potenzas are fabulous as the other guy said...and if money was no object in real life...Super Sports are what I would buy most likely, but I'd want to drive on them to see if they're as comfortable as Ventus V12's. I really liked the comfort factor of the V12's. Not a track tire though..for track, not that I know what I'm doing...I'd choose a different tire.

The dealer had installed a set of big, heavy, 20" Axis rims on the car and shod them with Nittos. I rated them poor for traction, handling, and wear. I switched to Nismo 18" wheels and wrapped them with Hancooks. Again, poor rating for traction, handling and wear. They felt spongy and disappeared in no time. More importantly, they were not at all confidence inspiring in the corners. Then, I bought my 19-inch Volk GT-Cs with Goodyear Run-Flats. Ride quality was horrible, and in spite of the uber-stiff sidewalls, the car handled like a pig. After the first 1/3 of the tire wore away, they were a complete sh*t-sandwich. That brings me to the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. I thought they'd be a good compromise tire since I drive the Z year-round and we get lots of rain, and occasional snow. The handling was such a step down from the BF Goodrich KDWs, I should have driven back to the tire shop and had them pull them off. Instead, knowing how quickly I go through tires, I decided to stick with them. They were no better in rain than the BFGs, and they were totally worthless with an inch of snow on the ground. I normally don't even try to drive my car in the snow, but I had to test the tires, right? The only good news is I got nearly 15,000 miles before I was into the wear-bars on the rear tires. I think they carried a 50,000 mile warranty. What a joke!

I’ve owned a 350z for close to 11 years. During that time I’ve run several different tires. I like Jah70’s choice: Continental DW. It’s quiet (more quiet than most), comfortable, has great grip in wet and dry, and is reasonable priced.

My second choice is Michelin.

has anyone considered the nitto nt05, nitto 555 or even the nitto motivo? I like the 555s I have those on the front of my zr im running 265/35/18 on the front and 295/35/18 on the rears the fronts I love how the 555s grab the road on the front it helps a lot with the under steer. on the rears I have kdws not super impressed with them but if you drop them to aboutn30 psi they stick a lot better after I get done with this set on the rears im either going to the nt05 or one of the continentals either dw or dws ive gotten about 15000 so far out of my kdws.
the nto5s are more a summer performance tire like the kdws the motivos are a lot like the dws the motivos are a uhp tire geared toward performance driving without the poor ride quality that goes with it. and the carry a ungodly 60000 mile warranty.
I work at a discount tire im a assistant manager we do price match so if anyone finds a lower price they will match it and you get a 30 day ride guarantee so if you don't like the tires within 30days you can swap them out for different one you only pay the difference in the price of the tire if its more

 

I'm glad YOU were happy with the Nittos. I'm a big fan of Americas' Tire. Keep up the good work!

 

I've been very pleased with the Sumitomo HTR Z III Max performance summer tire. I don't drive my car in the winter, so these tires have worked well for me. I'm runing 275/40-18 in the rear and 245/40-18 in the front. Great traction in dry and wet conditions. Even though they have a very stiff sidewall, they ride fine around the city streets. They are not the quietest tire, but probably not the noisiest either.

 

I'll be getting g-force sport comp-2's probably within the week and I'll be happy to let everyone know ^_^ 245/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rears I believe. Going on an '07 touring.

 

anyone running micky thompsons DR'S on 19 in wheels?

 

The RE760s have great wet and dry grip (though not anywhere close to the RS3s for example, which wear a bit faster bc they are softer), but they are an extremely noisy tire...by my ear significantly louder than worn RT615s, which arent exactly quiet. They have an asymmetrical pattern that may contribute.

Ironically the stickiest tire of the three, the RS3, is quieter than both the RE760 and RT615. The hardest tire of the bunch is the RE760, though despite its rating (340) I think runs soft because it wears about the same as the RT615 (on my car, with my driving).

I am fairly new to this so sorry up front if i am asking a question that has been already answered. I have a 2003 350z with stock 17 inch rims. I need new tires and was hoping to put a bit wider on the back as i like the look but I have traction control so i dont want to throw that off. Any ideas on what size tires would work?

Honestly, it's only a little 8 inch wide wheel, run stock size and save for wider wheels

 

So how are you liking the BF Goodrich G-Force tires? I have a 2007 enthusiast and I am putting on 4 BFG G-Force Comp -2 tires next week.

They're so sticky it picks up every stone and throws it in the wheel well. lol. I love em so far. Quite impressed with wet performance too. Driven in a Seattle rainstorm. lol.

 

My previous car has BFG G-Force, and I can say that their dry and wet traction are good. I currently have NT555's that I got from Nitto tires|4WO and have no problems so far.The nitto has better grip in the rain compared to the Gforce.

 

Bridgestone RE-11 gets my vote.

 

I'm running the PS 3s, but the A/S variant because that was all they had at the time and I was in desperate need.

But wear? Ridiculous! On a street driven, 90% freeway daily commuter, the fronts have done alright with a bit of wear at the edge. But the passenger rear is down to the wear bars in the center and the driver side is only slightly better...............after only 22,500 miles. And, I had it four wheel aligned immediately after having those put on.

I took it back to COSTCO this last weekend seeking help with the 45,000 mile tread wear warranty. Now, I wasn't born yesterday and I know the Zs are hard on tires. But, I was figuring 30,000 miles, the OEM Bridgestones these had replaced.

The COSTCO supervisor offered me a prorated replacement for the two rears. But, he also warned me that with the staggered sized, non-rotatable like the Z, some BMWs and some MBs, that Michelin lowered the warranty to half and, this was a usual issue. He said I should figure no more than 20,000 miles out of a set.

Well, I didn't take him up on the replacement offer because I don't want another expensive set on those terms; because I just spent $10 grand on body work; because I really don't want the A/S again either. Instead, I ordered a 5/32nds, early 2014 used version off of eBay which I'll use to replace that bad rear and baby the set another 5,000 or so miles when I'll buy something else.

So, what kind of real world wear are members getting and from what brand/model of tires?

 

Hmmmm.... never gave that a thought. My cars don't wear tires long enough to see how far they'd go. Laff.....

I've had my z for over 11 years and have always ran either the RE040, RE760 or recently the Pilot Super Sports, I'll be going back to the RE760, they've been my favorite.

 

Put on Goodrich g-force comp 2 tires on the 2007 Z about two months ago. I think they are great! Ride is very good in dry or wet weather. They are more quiet than the original Bridgestone potenzas. I got them from Tire Rack.
