Toyo T1-S
How many miles did you get off these if you had them? ... The treadwear is 280 on these ... and i read some where that on a tested course, 100 is approx. 30,000 ... so on the regular road, they estimated 1/2 of that ... or 15,000 ... So if this is true, one should be able to get like .... 40,000 of these tires if they drive normally w/o doing to much hard rides?
I seriously doubt you'll get 40k out of them... maybe 30k, but even that is pushing it.
I had 255/45-18 on the rear and 245/40-18 on the front. The rears lasted about 3000 street miles and three track events.... about 800 miles of track-time.

Those may have been the numbers for the specific tires tested. Treadwear ratings are only valid inside a manufacturer's line. You can only compare Toyos to other Toyos. While the T1 may be a 280 for Toyo that may be only a 100 for a brand that is all about longevity or a harder tire brand.

My tire guy was trying to sell me on the Michelin Pilots which have a treadwear rating of 400.
After deciding on the Toyo's, he later told me about treadwear only being valid in comparing tires in a manufacturer's line (I was basically trying to factor the 400/280 and cost difference). I guess he didn't realize that he'd given away that he was technically pulling one over on me in using the 400 treadwear rating as a big selling point. Just thought it was funny.
I'm not saying that the Pilots wouldn't have a higher treadwear than the T1-S's, but trying to work out the mathematics of 400/280 would probably not give you an accurate measurement of wear.
I have had them about 9K and the fornts are good but the rears are wearing thin, I do not burn out only sometimes squeal on take off, my guess is probably 15-20K depending on useage.
Another rule of thumb to remember is that the average Z rated tire lasts about 17K miles. I had a buddy that went about 35K on some and he was driving on the cords for a long time. What a moron!! But he was broke so hey.
depends on too many variables....camber, weight of wheels, weight of car, driving style, tire pressure.
I have had P Zeros go 30k miles, and am at about 8k so far on my T1S without incident or any wearing that I can tell
