Here's why:

245 45% 18 25.03 Stock 18" Rear

245 40% 18 26.03
255 35% 18 25.30
255 40% 18 26.35
265 35% 18 25.58
265 40% 18 26.66 +24mm!!
275 35% 18 24.73
275 40% 18 25.85
285 30% 18 26.98
285 35% 18 24.97
285 40% 18 26.13 +28mm!!
295 30% 18 27.29
295 35% 18 25.20
295 40% 18 26.41

All other sizes included to help give you some perspective and just go with the sizes that the majority are recommending. Not terribly difficult except for your irrational fear of gap.

245/40/18
265/35/18 or 275/35/18

Just my .02

Really depends on how you drive and what you want the car to feel like.

245/40-18 will close that gap but massive amounts of understeer while driving near or at the limit. Street is fine though.

This helps me understand! It was sidewall being measured by aspect ratio that confused me. I'm doing test fitting for pure aesthetics at the Wheel Warehouse tomorrow in Anaheim, CA. I'll post pics with the new setup ASAP. A lot of my driving is done through the canyons near Irvine, CA which is the main reason I liked 265/285or295

265/35 285/35

Can barley stick my finger between the wheel and fender. In the rear I can squeeze in two lol.

Any chance of getting in some hops with that barley?

BTW, getting your fingers into the space between the tire and the fender lip is a function of suspension, not tire size. If it is tire size determining the space, you're running the wrong size.

That setup looks sweet.

Maybe next time I get tires I'll keep the 265/35 but change rear to 275/40 to close the gap .85" I'm noticing the rear passenger side has more gap then the driver side.I guess it's always been like that since I got my gf210s butit's more noticeable with the wider setup
