Yeah I like the Kojins too. In a way, they could pass for OEM like ^ said.

They got moms approval, let me check dad.

ps- this matters to me too because the car is "willed" to me. Speaking of, anybody know how difficult it is to convert an auto to manual? I mean, since the car will be free to me I wouldn't mind spending the money on that.

That's my car and I LOVE my Kojins. I actually thought they looked like like they could be stock too and that's what attracted me to them. No spacers or lowering needed to get a pretty great look. Also no weight gain...pretty much broke even coming from the stock 17's to these. I vote for Kojins too. :thumb up:

Its a little tricky to tell from the pics, but do the rears stick out past the fender?

Yeah hope you dont mind I quoted your post a few times because it gives a full description and nicely detailed pictures...

At to mt swap info... Looks like a *****.

I think they fit almost flush probably 5-10mm away from poking out.. If your looking to maintain the little bit sunken in appearance you could run the 18x8.5 +25 on apl 4 corners... With stock sized tires or maybe a 245/40 front 245/45 rear square set-up.

I think I'm going to take a chance and get the +15 rears. My dad says he hates it when the tires stick out but this is about flush. The main benefit here is the concave rear wheels. I think he'll like that enough to overlook how flush it is. Cant run a "square" setup because I heard it makes the car more unpredictable. They are old and dont need to die any sooner. Stock it is! FWIW I know the rear tires are currently245/45/18.

It depends on the angle but for the most part, in my eyes, they are flush and not sticking out. Here's a few more pics to help.

Results! Just wanted to chime in and show the new wheels. At first, I thought we may have made a terrible mistake with the rear wheel offset of 15. But, once it got out on the road ( I was in a separate car ) I could see it looked great. Nice and aggressive. Stock 2006 18" wheels are for sale, make offer.

Looks stellar! Yeah they approved. A selling point to my dad was, they're so easy to clean! You can clean the width of the rim so easily. Downside as he noted today, he'll have to start actually cleaning the calipers as the brakes are SO visible now. Lol

So awesome! Now I know what my Z would look like as a convertible. Such fantastic looking wheels...makes a big difference in the look, right? And your Dad is right...they are super easy to clean. I find I can "extend my wash" by cleaning them every weekend...rest of the car can be a little dusty but if the wheels are clean the car looks clean too. Congrats to your parents for having such a sweet looking Z. And kudos to you for being such a good son.

The tires we actually already had. I think 265 in the back and 245 in the front but I can double check that if needed. Should be stock sizes. Let me ask you, how much lighter are these wheels than stock? I thought maybe 5lbs each. Dad says he doesnt notice a performance difference but then again he isn't the type that would, imo.

They are only about 3lbs lighter not much difference 24.4 front 25.8 rear for the stock wheels you had, the new ones are 22lbs...

Stock tires are 245/45 rear and 225/45 front...

I went with 265/40 rear 245/40 front

And shawn has 275/40 rears and 255/40 fronts I believe.

I was just curious because your back tires dont look like they are stretched but my fronts look like a mild stretch.

I weighed both of mine....with stock 17's front was 23lbs and rear was 24. With the new 18 inch wheels and much wider tires(Dboyz has it right above) I gained a pound each on the front and two on the rears. I have to say though it doesn't FEEL like it at all...feels same or less. Probably has something to do with how much wider the tires are. And maybe it was just in my head but this weekend when I was changing rear brake pads putting the tires back on didn't feel nearly as hard as when I would put the stocks back on...those felt like friggin anchors. ha ha
