Default Wheel and tire help (rpf1 size/decent street tire)

Hey i've done quite a bit of researching and searching but i'm not really finding the answers i'm after, sorry if my questions have been repeated.

Getting new wheels and tires for my 08 350, pretty set on rpf1's. Thinking 9.5 in the front with 10.5 in the back +15 on both.

Leaning towards 265/40ZR18 up front and 295/40ZR18 in the rear. Will these fit/not rub on stock suspension?

and for tire choice i'm currently leaning towards nitto nt555 g2's. I'm looking for a good performing street tire that i can push a little but isn't going to wear crazy fast around that $800 ish (for 4) price point. If there are any better recommendations id love to hear it.

Dats not what I said in the other thread (18" discussion linked).

Here's the entire spectrum of "practical" 18" tires available for our cars:

225 45% 18 25.97 Stock Reference Size
245 45% 18 26.68 Stock Reference Size

245 40% 18 25.72 Front-Alternate
255 35% 18 25.03
255 40% 18 26.03 Front- Alternate
255 45% 18 27.04
265 35% 18 25.30
265 40% 18 26.35
275 35% 18 25.58
275 40% 18 26.66 Rear-Alternate
285 30% 18 24.73
285 35% 18 25.85
285 40% 18 26.98 Rear-2nd Alternate
295 30% 18 24.97
295 35% 18 26.13
295 40% 18 27.29
305 35% 18 26.41
305 40% 18 27.61

Looking at this grid, you can decide by choosing the correct height to match the OEM reference size but then look at the corresponding width. Sure 285/295 35s are close to front OEM HEIGHT/DIAMETER and I'm sure you can even get 'em to fit by removing your fenders (I'm kidding, people, settle down!); But... are they practical for performance purposes on the street when 245s or 255s can't even be brought up to proper/best op temps on street or canyon runs? Nope..... looks cool but grip not optimized unless running on track and with proper corner weighting/aggressive alignment.

Hence my recommendations of 40s for above stock width 18s, 35s for 19s, 30s for 20s....

My bad on the double post, other thread looked more active and my original numbers here didn't look like they would work but couldn't figure out how to delete the thread.

No worries, bud.

Good luck on the wheels selection. Toughest choice since ya gotta live with them for a while.

Unless you're like nismo_0385 and others who change their wheels as if they were socks.

Question

So 255/40 Front and 285/40 Rear fit with no rubbing on stock suspension? What width and offset of rims? I think the meaty look.

I'm currently running 245/40 Front and 265/40 Rear on V2 Touring wheels (8 F 8.5 R) but since I track the car I'm always looking for a wider setup that is still street-able. Maybe 265/35 Front and 285/40 Rear could work as well and help the understeer a touch?

On a 10.5 +15 rear, most properly sized tires are going to rub. Just roll the rear and be done.

265 front and 285 rear will do nothing for understeer. If you want to reduce understeer, front tire needs to be closer to the rear. 275 front 285 rear, 285 front and 285 rear, and of course 275/35-18 front and rear that is very commonly used for us to track

Oy, no thanks guys... can't drink much rum anymore.

I get too many flashbacks of my high school "151-induced-falling-UP-stairs" events.

Although... we were at a dive bar last week and for some reason was compelled to order a rum n' coke. Needed something lighter than the several ****'s Creek overs earlier in the evening. Laff....

Why yes, my non-drinking wife was driving, why you ask?

Well, since this thread is derailed already (and the updated, Z-specific version is over where it belongs on the 18" wheel thread....)

Bourbon, single malt whiskies are my go to. However, a fav of mine is a local product made by a company here in the Bay Area (Berkeley, I think) where they source their whiskies from different companies and create their own blends.

Called Mosswood. Had it a couple of times at a restaurant in Los Gatos, CA but they don't serve it any longer for whatever reason. Not sure what the story is but that stuff was primo. Gonna have to look 'em up again after I'm done with my current stash of Glen-whatevers, ***** Creek bourbon and a couple others sittin' in the wine fridge (of which I appropriated half of for the private use of my spirits. )

But I WILL try the Papas Pilar rum. If anyone stocks it 'round these parts. Thanks for the suggest.
