Default Fender clearance - maximum wheel width/offset/tire size/suspension drop

Members often ask about maximums for wheel widths and offsets, and tire sizes along with a suspension drop that work with the stock 350z’z suspension and fender clearance.

It’s easiest answering this complex question by breaking the problem into its basic components.

Suspension Drop
You can drop the car about (and slightly more than) 0.5” without a requirement to replace suspension components needed for alignment. I dropped my car 0.6” without any problem.

Wheel width and offset
You can go with a 9.5” wheel and a 15mm offset without rolling your rear fenders. This setup also works in the front (which has factory rolled fenders). If you go with a 10.5” wide wheel and a 15mm offset, you will probably rub the rear fenders during extreme suspension compression. You should consider rolling rear fenders with this setup.

Tire sizes
If you mount appropriate tire sizes on correctly sized wheels, you won’t rub. For example: If you mount 9.5” wide wheels, you are probably running on 275mm tires. If your suspension drop is 0.5”, you’re good.

Hope this is helpful.
